Honestly, Ikaris and Sersi are probably the only ones needed to represent this movie.

Yelp, having seen this movie I will say I'm good on any and all figures!

Wasn't the worst movie I've seen, but still wasn't anything to write home about. I connected with none of the characters. And the one character who was remotely interesting kills himself in the end.

This movie could have had potential in the hands of competent writers, but Hollywood is somehow full of so much mediocre "talent" it's not surprising to see them s*** this one out. It was exposition heavy throughout to the point where I was like gee, if we still need things explained an hour into this film then you "writers" should have gone back to the drawing board with fleshing the story/setup out in the beginning.

None of the twists, turns, or "reveals" had any impact since they were revealed right then and there. There was no clever or coy setup that would pick up on during a repeat viewing, just yep, this guy knew all along and is responsible for killing their leader.

Stakes had no stakes. Oh, this person gets literally stabbed in the back. This could be bad, but, oh, no...just walk it off like that injury wasn't fatal or anything...just a minor inconvenience. Oh, "family" member literally stabbed me in the back, that's fine, don't apologize for it. I'll still hook you up with what you wanted.

Oh, and the best part is one of the Eternals sits out on the final battle entirely!

Phase 4 is not off to a strong start when it's "best" product so far is Shang-Chi and even that film had a ton of problems too. Feige too focused on quantity over quality I'm afraid.

I think this film has the potential to yield only ONE figure since they only teased Angelina Jolie's Thena, but like I said in another thread I wouldn't be surprised if this was the MCU's first "Shazam" figure either!

I blanked out on the first half of the repeat viewing sentence. Every Phase 4 movie/show has had at least 2 figures made from it until this one so far. Loki is an example that you might not have to freak out right now. But Hawkeye, Spidey and Boba are incoming fast.

I'll be surprised if they make more than Thena, Ikaris, and Sersi from this, if even all 3 of them, specifically in that order of priority. Would probably only get Ikaris, but a Makkari might be tempting if they somehow got that far down the list. I'd even consider a Kro, more because of his design than his part in the movie.

Ikaris won't happen. He offs himself in the end. What incentive does HT have to make a one and done figure on a very tepidly received movie? Sersi will probably get the Mantis treatment. Maybe you'll see a prototype of her later on, but it'll never be released.

Well, I don't actually think they're going to make her, just that she would be interesting to see. Also I probably would've put some of that other stuff in a spoiler tag, but anyway, critical reception doesn't seem to have as big an effect as box office on what HT makes, and they're not about to skip an MCU property, so I'll be shocked if they don't at least make 1 or 2 of them.

While you're probably correct regarding the likelihood of any other figures being made (or even Thena), I think your assessment of the film's quality is rather harsh. I think the lower ratings from CBM fans and critics are a result of preconceived notions of what a MCU movie should be - i.e., it's quite different in that its narrative isn't as straightforward or as action-packed as we're used to from Marvel, but different does not necessarily equate to worse. And while not all of the characters clicked for me, I did find that several (Sersi, Makkari, Gilgamesh, Phastos, Thena and Sprite) worked just fine. Oh, and Kingo's valet too lol.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but I found it to be a clever commentary on the dangers of messing with the balance of nature, as that never goes as expected/planned. Arishem introduced the Deviants to eradicate the apex predators on the seeded worlds so humanoids could thrive, but in fact he just created a new apex predator as he did not anticipate that the Deviants would adapt and evolve beyond their mission statement. Then he repeated his mistake by creating the Eternals to wipe out the Deviants, as in order to do so the Eternals would also need to be able to adapt & evolve. They evolved to care for/love those that they lived amongst - something that apparently had happened previously, otherwise Arishem wouldn't have felt the need to erase their memories and give them different ones. Zhao even slipped in a subtle global warming commentary to boot, what with the Deviants' reappearance being the result of a receding glacier lol.

You're right...that's why HT has Cosbabies up their sleeves.

I expect HT to solicit one figure, but if they never did I honestly wouldn't be surprised either.

I don't think my assessment is too harsh. I don't think this was the worst film I've ever laid witness to, but it's certain not great. Let's put it this way, I would probably check it out again if I was ever bored...I can't say the same for Captain Marvel. Now that's probably the worst film the MCU has put out to date.

But back to Eternals, the log line for this film is a band of rebelling robots abort a celestial fetus...which sounds so hilariously bad until you realize that's what it actually was. I can appreciate a slow film that meditates on profound concepts, but this film wasn't it. It just skimmed the surface and never went deep enough or explore them, so that was a major missed opportunity. Moreover, none of the characters were fleshed out so we had no incentive to care for them. They should have boiled the Eternals down to 5 characters honestly. The fact that Kingo sat out the final battle shows his absence made 0 difference to the outcome and just how irrelevant they all are.

This movie was a miss (in my opinion), but it at least was somewhat more coherent than the other misfire that is Black Widow.

Anyways, glad you enjoyed the film, more power to ya, but at the end of the day this just didn't work for me...which is fine because now I get to save money on the hypothetical figures that won't happen anyway!

For that matter he could have done that with the Deviants, because it's logical to assume they were fashioned in a similar manner in the same heavenly laboratory. You no doubt would have preferred that, as there then would have been no basis for making the movie.

While they weren't birthed in a traditional manner, I believe both the Deviants and the Eternals have the spark of life within them, hence each having the ability to evolve. So more like test tube babies if you will. All of the Eternals are a bit like Bucky's Winter Soldier too (granted, not nearly as cool), as Arishem sends them out on a mission that lasts a few thousand years, then wipes their memories of the entire process & reinforces the mind control programming. Lather, rinse, repeat.

They don't have life. This was made clear in the film. Not to mention Zhao confirmed this an interview when asked if any of the eternals got snapped by Thanos (it targets life at random). “Well, I can’t say this out loud, but if you think about… if you think about what the Celestials told them. If you think about what the Celestials told them about themselves, technically they can’t get blipped,” . They aren't alive at all
