I got the exclusive. After seeing the pics here I don’t know if I am more excited for the Helms Deep Aragorn or putting the exclusive head on the 1st release Aragorn. It looks pretty darn good in the pictures. Thanks for sharing guys.

Really great pics. I especially like the replacement sculpt on the first one.
Great pics! :clap :rock
Looks really good there.

Amazing how much a diorama base can elevate the display of a figure too. :clap
I love how the head sculpt looks in these shots. Fantastic. I will try to pick up a loose version of the non-battle-damaged version, if possible, to replace my Slim rooted hair version. (unless someone would like to trade...) :wink1:
Thanks guys. Yeah I was pretty surprised with the sculpt. Viggo is definitely present. Not perfect but best they've done so far!

Amazingly mine made it through customs without any hiccups so I hope that trend continues when deluxe Galadriel is released.
Headsculpt to me looks exactly as most photos have shown it. No more or less Viggo in person but the hair and eyes are very well done. I?m sure one day we?ll see an unquestionable likeness achieved but until then the strive for perfection continues.
The outfit however is miles better than Slim Strider and that chainmail is a novel solution to a tricky 1:6 issue. It?s certainly delicate but visually it gives a near flawless illusion of being chainmail. Only thing to work on would be dulling the reflectiveness as it really catches the light and can appear quite overly shiny.

I?m not sure if this is my first time handling the new Asmus body- could just be the first one I?ve tried doing anything more than a subtle standing pose with- but it handles very well and moved naturally. The hands and wrists seem improved also. Aragorn has a little bit of added wrist Length on the hand sculpts which is great for concealing the joints a tad more- not that he needs help due to the vambraces but it?s appreciated all the same.

The diorama is a beast. It?s cast in heavy resin or something and, despite looking great and having that more realistic rocky feel and texture, I have to wonder if something similar could have been achieved simply by using hollow plastic like your average play set. I don?t know if that would be more or less expensive or if Asmus want the heavy, premium feel of it but if you?ve got glass shelves then that thing alone is gonna put their load baring capacity to the test.

All in all, it?s a damn well made piece plus it?s Aragorn so I had to have him. My Helms Deep heroes shelf has now reached max capacity.

Also, regarding the Berserker helmet accessory- if Asmus? eventual Uruks are to scale with it then they?re gonna be enormous. Should be every bit as bulky as the Weta Swordsman statue.
Here it is compared to my custom which I knew was a little on the lean side- but damn...

My Aragorn arrived today or may Friday. Hard to tell because tracking just abruptly stopped Thursday just saying In transit to next facility for several days, never even reached Seattle facility. Anyway I love this figure a lot. The diorama is just amazing in person and the centerpiece now of my LOTR/Hobbit shelves. A couple observations, for one the wrist peg came apart which I have never had happen with 1/6 HT or Asmus. It came apart trying to pull the peg out of the default hand. Another thing the base has two screws but the bottom piece didn?t have a pre drilled hole at all. Thirdly, the stylized figure stand that fits into the base to hold Aragorn was loose so I had to wrap some plastic tape around to keep it secure enough to hold him. The costume is just perfect, the die cast weapons and the quality is up there with the very best of Asmus. The head isn?t 100 but I know it?s Aragorn and in person it?s a solid 8/10 for me. No better or worse than Legolas imo. Now I just need Gimli, been waiting for him at BBTS for a while now. I?m exited for more dioramas like Thranduils throne as well. Also bring on Haldir or a Galadhrim warrior.73A065E7-D740-4A41-BF12-1363566C1D49.jpg0AF94FDC-412B-4B0A-97F0-A8C09CA108A6.jpg077D968F-32A2-4E42-9C33-6A019EFCF481.jpgF896D119-D941-4435-935F-06E6B9D3B761.jpgF02ED417-FCB3-473A-A3E6-603A43FBD11E.jpg87351F52-6A25-4013-94DF-24D6475DE808.jpg24495C0C-48B0-456F-81E7-050A6295DEB6.jpg62403F08-66AE-4E8A-A12F-F5A46FA4A859.jpg

Darn iPhone with horizontal orientation. Anyone know how to fix them so they are vertical?

Thanks for the good review and pics, ChopperFace!

Wow, that Berserker helmet is indeed huge. Looks to be closer to quarter scale.

Cheers, and yeah, I really can’t see this helmet scaling with a 1/6 figure. I’m pretty sure Berserkers have smaller heads than Mad Titans.

Come on USPS deliver mine already!!!

Thanks for sharing your thought and pictures. It’s can’t wait for mine to arrive. Interesting on how big that helm is.

Not my figure, but my pose and photo.

A word of warning, be careful and touch the face as little as possible (if you don't already). The finishing coat seems to rub off fairly easy. Hard to tell in this picture but in person (especially in the detolf) Aragorn's got a shiny spot on the tip of his nose now.

Yikes. I literally just pre-ordered Galadriel on Sideshow yesterday. Now I'm hoping I don't regret it. Come on, Asmus. Be better than that. No excuse for this to be happening.

I am sure this is an unique case, all the heads have a protective coat on it after painting,
it should be safe to play with.

So mine finally arrived today. It left California on the 3rd and finally got to me in Florida today. I was starting to get worried that it would never get here.

My first reaction is the figure is fantastic! It might be my favorite Asmus figure so far. The two part boots work great and I don’t have to use the stand. I put the exclusive head on my 1.0 Aragorn. It was a pain getting the peg in but once you get it in it works fine. FYI this head might not work on the Slim version. I need to get that one down to confirm but I believe the neck is a part of that head sculpt.

No, if you recall, Asmus sold the Slim heads (with rooted hair) separately for people wanting to upgrade their V1 heads. So if the new heads from Helms Deep Aragorn fit the V1 figure, they’ll also fit the Slims.

No the slim Aragorn was also sold as a full figure with limited accessories I believe the sculpt was provided to all 1.0 Aragorn owners if they wanted to update it.

I am aware, since I own the V1, the Slim, and the Slim head that was sold separately to update the V1.
I was just pointing out that the neck on the Slim figure isn’t a part of the head sculpt, so the recent Helms Deep heads will work on the V1 or the Slim figure.
