Nah, they did the right thing cancelling that sculpt. 99% of people on FB can't be wrong, and it does look wrong.

From what I have seen all those that are keeping their order or ordering now for remaining stock don't use the headsculpt.

The figure itself does look pretty cool. Looking forward to my BD version eventually. It had a different sculpt again with slightly open mouth if I'm not wrong. And that is one that many would display with helmet off.

Yeah, I've got the battle damage on order and planned to have that sculpt used, so this one was an easy decision. There is still a pretty big difference between what I see with my eyes and what my camera captures with the head sculpt. In person, it really looks to represent Tony at the beginning of Endgame, which is curious...

Got this last night from Toys Wonderland and love it! The head sculpt looks much better in hand than in photographs. Not perfect but I never planned on using it anyway. Glad I grabbed this now instead of waiting another year for a head sculpt that would stay in the box

Gmoney knows his headsculpts and this one ain't it brah! Thanks for sharing these photos though. It only confirms what we already know, that's its garbage.

I agree with you 100% The fact that this is the latest and "greatest" RDJ headsculpt after a decade of working on it, that's just straight up pitiful.

No disagreement that the headsculpt missed the mark (ha!). Anyway, it is better in-hand and I think if I were to kitbash a beginning Endgame RDJ, this would be the sculpt. It's just too thin for the "5 years later" RDJ. The rest of the figure is terrific though, in my opinion.

My experience is that almost everyone on Facebook is wrong.
the sculpt looks great.

100% correct. Most of those FB users do not own the figure or haven't seen the sculpt in person. For those that do own it and did post on here or FB or elsewhere have said the sculpt is fine and like it.

I think it’s a good quality sculpt. It just doesn’t look like RDJ. There are a few angles where it kinda looks like him but I don’t want random person in Tony’s suit on my shelf. :rotfl

It’s not a deal breaker for me though, since the clean Mark 85 will be displayed with the helmet on. The HS will stay in a box. Now the battle damaged Mark 85 is another story. I will cancel my PO if that HS doesn’t match or exceed the prototype. I will only display the battle damaged figure with the HS. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Curious, do you own this figure or seen the sculpt in person?

No, I just have him on PO. I’m not cancelling my PO either way since I won’t be using the HS. I asked my wife her opinion and she thought the prototype comparison looked more like RDJ than this one. Again, it looks like quality work but I don’t think the likeness to RDJ is there.

Funny, because I asked my wife the very same thing and she chose the newer headscultp over others, but she still felt all of them didn't resemble RDJ. I, like you, won't be displaying the headsculpt (I never do).

Another FB user that actually OWNS this figure giving their positive thoughts. I just don't know how anyone can give their opinion on something when they don't own the figure or haven't seen it in person. Even the bloggers like BG_TOYART, KINDAR, etc., give this sculpt glowing reviews because they have it in hand.

Mine should hopefully arrive next week and I will come here immediately after checking out the headsculpt with as an objective opinion as I can honestly offer. I?ll freely admit that I?m a usually a bit more forgiving than most when it comes to likenesses so there?s that which I will make sure to reiterate when I receive mine. That?s not to say that I?m blind to everything such as the Aquaman potato face but then the whole WW debacle was confusing as I thought they were all good with the exception that I easily preferred the training headsculpt to the rest which wasn?t exactly an original opinion but I honestly could see the difference before it became the big deal it was during the WW releases. Also, I think John Wick looks fine whereas I?ve heard opinions saying it?s one of the worst of the year. And lastly, I?ve almost always agreed with the BIG ONES! I?m talking about stuff like Yondu, Shuri, Wasp, Ragnarok Loki, JL Supes, BD Armored Bats, Cody, Palps, Dooku, OG Strange & even Nebula with her missing orange plates.

I still don't think it's a good sculpt, but honestly some sculpts just don't photograph well. There is always the possibility that while it's not as good as the prototype, it's not the disaster in hand that the photos make it out to be.

The Arkham Joker sculpt looks terrible in virtually every photo I've ever seen, and yet it's an incredible sculpt in hand.

This is the first HS I haven’t liked by HT for a figure I purchased/have on PO. IMO Black Panther and some of the other ones look s really good to me. I’m using the Chadwick Bozeman sculpt on a throne T’Challa and it’s excellent. I don’t think I need to own the figure in hand to have an opinion on it. Although I agree you shouldn’t completely nitpick it to death without seeing it in person. My opinion often changes in hand for the better, but I feel like this would go from “it’s not a good likeness “ to “maybe kinda in the perfect lighting and from a specific angle” at best. I am happy they are redoing it because the likeness needs work and is a definite step down from recent IM releases. I also think they’re doing because they also have the BD and team suit versions coming out with the same or very similar HS. They need to get this to the level of prior releases (recent one like the 46, 47, and 50) to avoid more uproar. I agree that all of them are off in their own ways, but this was a step back for me.

If you put it in shadow, at the back of your collection and squint at it from 20 metres (preferably after a few drinks)...it sort of (but not quite) slightly resembles RDJ'S stunt double...from a certain angle.

I have had several headsculpts that i have never seen a good photo of but in hand they look great. I'm guessing from in hand reviews this is the same. Either way it's now rare and will never see a reissue.

A truly great sculpt should look good in photos. Why wouldn't it if it's really good?

In my experience there's no smoke without fire when it comes to headsculpts. Even if getting it in hand seems to allay your initial criticisms they tend to come creeping back.
