1/6 Hot Toys DX19 - The Dark Knight Rises - 1/6th scale Batman Collectible Figure

It's also been just in time span, 5+ years of a release of a 1/6 Nolan Batman suit, and will be 7+ years once it actually released. I mean come on, that's plenty of time. Maybe it was jammed up early on, but I don't think this release is excessive outside of it just being a new version and not really even adding much different.

Additionally, From the MMS to DX12, they were making significant improvements to their figure and growing as a company. The MMS figure was way too bulky looking and bared little resemblance to Bale beyond the face. DX02 was a huge stride in getting the body shape refined and DX12 was an improvement in suit construction and refinement of finer details.

The armory was leverages as a means to refine a few smaller details while offering up and option for the figure again and also delivering additional items that were never before offered.

DX19 is only the first real instance of literally putting out almost the exact same figure as before, and has been noted, by the time it even gets to collectors, nearly a decade will have passed since the last release.

If Hot Toys were still turning out products and characters of a wider variety like the old days, I doubt this would be such an issue for people, but HT has become pretty redundant and limited over the past few years and I get the frustration of seeing yet another release spent on something old instead of new, but it's not as though there is no demand for this and they're still putting it out, seems like a Hot Toys TDK Batman is still highly in demand.

It certainly sold out quickly on BBTS.

I was visiting Alter Ego earlier (still in two minds about the Bat-Pod, it's huge!) and they only have 16 left of the DX19 pre-orders.

So this DX19 is literally the same toy as before... nothing new? No upgrades, no refinements?

At least Two-Face had a new sculpt and more finely tailored suit.


Hope DX20 Joker is a new sculpt AND new tailoring.

The body is supposed to have even more articulation and the headsculpts are new.

Huh. Didn't occur to me Joker 3.0 (wait..4.0?) could be the very next DX - but of course it could. DX01/DX02 - DX11/DX12.

The paneling gaps are smaller if that's what you mean.

The pants are a bit low though. The crotch panel might be a little undersized.

We'll no doubt see a second (and possibly third) opportunity to purchase this figure, as it hasn't even gone into production yet and the online shops are going to request additional allotments. There's no way Hot Toys is going to limit the number so early on.

What is strange is that this release appears to have the "Batman Begins" younger look to the head sculpt but the TDKR DX12 base and the TDK sonar accessory. It's all over the place. An all in one Dark Knight release, which is cool.

My only hope is that with the younger sculpt, it will be re-used in a new and improved "Batman Begins" figure. That would be a grail for me, completing my Dark Knight collection.

I never did purchase a Nolan suit... so here's my chance.

The DX12/Amory crotch panel was also small. Only the 1/4 got the pants pretty close to perfect.

The main issue though is the low pants. They just look weird.

Who knows when HT will show it, but a Joker 3.0 is on the way. HT has never made a TDK Batman without a Joker to go along with it, and since the Baleman doesn't come out until 2022, I don't expect them to be in a hurry to show the 3.0.

It'd be 4.0 though wouldn't it - people forget that original MMS figure.
