Meh... the man makes entertaining movies.
Not terribly clever ones, but entertaining. I really don't quite fault him for TROS, I think he had little control over what actually happened, and TFA, while derivative, was a fun watch.
Having said that, he wouldn't be my first choice...

I'm already looking forward to JJ's alternate timeline script and his casting John Boyega as Clark and Brie Larson as Lois.

Boyega will play the non threatening Jimmy Olsen and have a crush on Lois only to lose Lois to emo Superman in the sequels. Jimmy will attempt suicide but fail when his life is saved by the fat Asian Daily Planet intern that secretly loved him since the second film for some reason.

It cured him from hating Superman, but not over the death of his parents.

No, it cured him from that too as it gave him a "surrogate Martha" to save. That redeemed him and freed him from a life of futile crimefighting. He could now move forward as the boss of the JL.
