With P1 being up for PO for a while I don't think the Ed size will be all that large. I did order this as I was Waiting for Weta to make their Sauron available before making a decision.

I'll likely be ordering this next week, although I now have to replace my less than 2 years old LG C9 OLED as well :gah:.

I can't miss an opportunity to have this in 1/6. I'll be selling my Sideshow PF.

I'm getting him too next week. I'm thinking who else is going to make a Sauron in 1/4 or 1/6? Iron Studios most probably in 1/10. Asmus in a 1/6 figure. Possibly Queen Studios, Infinity Studios or XM if they get the license.

Looks great, finally a correct paintjob, all previous versions been either too charred or too shiny.

Still, again they are forgetting the front parts of his cloaks hanging from his pauldrons, part of what made him an iconic design. Oh well.

This is gorgeous, but by the Valar it is expensive. I shall have to admire this from afar, I still have my original Weta Sauron statue and have always loved it and don't feel a need to upgrade.
the 1/6 scale is tempting though, but I might just wait for Asmus to do Sauron.
Also I really like the design of the sword - sleek, elegant yet cruel.

I have the original too, great piece. Only drawbacks are the too charred paintjob, my helmet is almost black and the lack of side cloaks and a itty bit of chicken legs. Still my favorite piece together with Smaug the terrible.

Asmus Sauron would be cool but with this one you know it's gonna be quality, Weta never disappointed there save some factory paintjobs sometimes being a bit rushed, but never bad.

I don't collect LOTR much any more but I had to pull the trigger on Sauron. I have always regretted parting with my old SSW version and never cared too much for the PF when I had it. This version of Sauron looks amazing!

This looks good. I want it. But have no where to display it. Price tag is high, but Weta has the latest five years increased their statues by a lot.
They have but so has Sideshow and everyone else in this hobby. For the most part newer items have more to them in terms of design and execution, I'm not saying they are better than older pieces but are certainly more costly.

Well, I don’t think Weta’s statues, new ones counted, are worthy a price point near Prime 1. Of course manufacturers have to increase their prices to compete and keep inflation at bay, but the prices they are asking for their 1:6 statues are nearing a threshold.

This Sauron pieces though is, in my opinion, an exception. They have nailed it. Colors, pose, details, LEDs interchangeable weapons to create whole different settings. Great! This and Witch-King and Frodo are some of the better statues Weta has made in recent years.

I have found a discrepancy between the movie costume/statue of Sauron with WETA's new Sauron statue. It has to do with the mail “skirt”.

The picture below is taken from the “Fellowship of the Ring” in which one can see that the skirt is very large and it fall far beneath the knees.

In this second picture, you have the upcoming Prime 1 quarter scale Sauron. The sculpters has done a great job at capturing the size and looks of Sauron's movie “skirt”.

Now, in this third picture is WETA's latest take on Sauron, of which this thread is about.

As you might have noticed, WETA has done this “skirt” much smaller than from what we see in the movies. Why is this? I also saw that this “error” was captured on their first Sauron statue.

Are they using a different costume as reference material? It might be nitpicking, but this statue is great aside from this little discrepancy. I would hope Weta would correct this for their final release, as it just looks weird in its current form if you compare it to the movies.

Interesting... You could leave a comment on their fb page. I see them responding to people.

The short mail skirt and lack of cloak material from his pauldrons was missing on their first one 20 years ago too, might be how the costume is displayed now at weta, not fully consistent with the onscreen appearance
