That would be my concern as well... their Clones are the right height, so it would make sense if these were as well.

Why doesn't anyone answer the height question? :banghead I have a $100 gift card with the Imp Guard's name on it, and I'm waiting for scale confirmation before I pull that blessed trigger. So if anyone can provide word, or, better, yet, photos, I'd be eternally grateful and buy you a beer at next year's Con.

keep in mind, scale is not only reflected with height... the Royal Guard's helmet may quite a bit smaller than other Sideshow Imperials.

Exactly! That's what makes this figure so damnably maddening, especially given the cost. Is it worth the sacrifice of a $100 gift card and $75 cash? Or should I wait until Sideshow finally (maybe) tackles this one. I'd love it of someone could help me and a few other people answer this question. :)

i was a fan of Medicom's Star Wars efforts up until recently... the combination of their fragile limbs breaking mixed with their (in my opinion) incompatibility with the Star Wars line (which since the Utapau Clone i haven't missed an armored Imperial) diminished my interest... personally, i would either make a custom Royal Guard or wait for Sideshow to produce one.

The Hasbro guard is actually not not that bad, by the way. The robes cover the awful body. If you just want some to pose standing next to the emperor or something, you could do worse that to just get the Hasbro version for a few dollars.

Funny enough the hasbro figs are about the same height as medi's in general, all adding extenders does to the Medi is give it T-rex syndrome (long legs & stubby arms). this is the hasbro with clear elastic to hold the weapon in place. If I could find another one I would get one, considering the role of the character and the design, the hasbro one is serviceable in a display.

How tough would it be to kitbash a Medi Guard to a Hot Toys body? I've never seen a nude Medi body, so I'm not sure if it would be as easy a transition as the switch from a Buck to a TT.

SSC has the Royal Guard on sale at 50% off using the Black Friday code, at that price I snagged one :) The code can only be used once so be sure when you hit purchase. Here is the list of 50% off items as given by an SSC employee in the comments section of the Black Friday area:
Jabba 12-inch Figure
Optimus Prime Bust
Punisher RAH 12-inch Figure
Sao Feng 12-inch Figure
Chainsaw Killer 12-inch Figure
Beast Maquette
Napoleon Premium Format Figure
Abe Sapien Bust
Angel of Death Bust
Thor VS Loki Diorama
Exclusive Blood Elf VS Rogue Draenei Diorama
Exclusive Blade VS Dracula Diorama
Royal Guard RAH 12-inch Figure
She Predator 12-inch Figure
4-foot Frankenstein Statue
Lady Sham Statue

I broke down and bought two. 50% off was too good to pass up and if they're way too short even next to my customized Hasbro Palps then I'll just throw them on ebay.

I managed to nab this for $99 and I'm very pleased with it. It oozes quality, especially in the way you can use the wire to pose the cloak (like you can with Vader too).

Only issue I have is that I really need two of 'em so I can replicate this sort of scene:

I will post some pix later.

Quite right too! Apologies for the delay.

I've currently got these two flanking my laptop:

So now I've got:

ROTJ Vader
Royal Guard
Stormtrooper
Sandtrooper
Boba Fett

The only ones I really want now are the Tie Fighter Pilot (impossible to find for a decent price) and C-3PO/R2 (not out yet). Except I'd really like another trooper to flank Vader. Well, and another Royal Guard for when I'm in a Jedi mood. Hmmm, and Yoda looks pretty good...

Sheeeeit! I'm going to have to get 'em all!

:panic:

Here's a couple of pics of mine:

The shoulders are very narrow on the out the box figure. I built up the shoulders on mine using strips of gaffa tape stuck directly to the nude body like shoulder pads until I got the right look. Lots of trial and error, but I think it was worth it.

I hadn't really noticed that, but looking at yours I think you're right - it does improve the shape of the shoulders.

One thing I was disappointed about is that the legs seem to have limited articulation at the hip. I suppose they figured most people would pose this standing upright.

I've seen your display before jkno, it's amazing.

I really want the Tie Fighter Pilot, but it just never seems to come up on eBay.co.uk.
