A used mk85 is on toyswonderland already. I think a lot of people are going to be canceling orders for this.

I got mine yesterday, it was out of stock but quickly they put another one.
Glad I only paid 380 euros with express shipping. The description said it was just "opened for inspection", so I guess it is almost brand new. I hope so.

Not mine, pics from one FB group

It's as I surmised. That's a good figure. I just don't feel it's a great figure. For the final suit I would have loved it if they knocked it outta the park. Not quite.

I've never fully shaken a slight pang of regret that I bought Mark IV instead of Mark VII as my sole representation of Iron Man. Not that IV isn't a great figure - just it's from Iron Man 2, not the greatest in the MCU catalogue. The Avengers 2012 meanwhile was one of the best cinema experiences I've ever had.

The IV will always be one of my top suits. I actually display the VII stripped down at the moment; not battle-damaged but more in line with some of Granov's concept art, I like the sleeker look.

I'm entertaining the idea of going ahead and buying the VII and displaying the IV with the Tony Stark head - I actually saw someone else having that exact combination in the VII thread.

I showed my wife a picture of the head sculpt, and she's an artist. But she agrees that the sculpt is a little off, but she was impressed with it.

I see hope for BD version :D

So Hot Toys is making a new head sculpt for this? Wonder how they will handle the Sideshow shipment??
Will be interesting to see if they delay it so they can re-package new headsculpts or give everyone the
separate redo bagged by itself in the box?

They needed to do this. I never cancelled a figure based on early pictures, but was debating on cancelling this preorder. That sculpt was awful compared to the prototype. The replacement is a stand up move, and surprise. They must have seen a ton of cancellations.

I'm guessing they'll have another go at painting the same sculpt better on a production level, but who knows the promo did look quite different.

The wording is very awkward (most likely this was translated and not written by a native english speaker), but it seems to be saying that they are changing the head sculpt going forward.

It certainly sounds like they are delaying the release of this in other territories to rework things.

That?s a great combo. Showing the humour of the character next to Battle of New York.

This is unprecedented for them. I wonder what happened?

My guess is that they already knew the sculpt was bad and, for whatever reason, felt forced to release it.

The public outcry and backlash could be all they needed to have an excuse to fix it.

So the new post by Hot Toys has the image on the left, one of the original solicitation photos is on the right.
It almost looks like the new image is just the Mark 50 sculpt on the 85 body?

Maybe they are just giving everyone all the extra heads from the warehouse full of
Mark 50 figures that did not sell, lol :rotfl

I doubt that it's from unsold figures, but reusing the Mk50 is honestly the best solution for them right now. The molds and paint process already exist and spinning them back up into production would be the most cost effective solution.

Going back to an older prototype, or creating a new one, wold require a new round of approvals from Disney and new costly molds.
