This is making headlines everywhere right now in a way I haven't seen any GB news do in years and frankly, I'm terrified. There is no way they rewrote a proper script since Harold's passing. Reitman seems to hint they're going forward with a draft where the original guys had very little involvement to begin with so I guess Harold and Bill are just being written out of that version.

Btw I know we had a GB3 thread at some point but I couldn't find it in the search.

This is all Bill Murray's fault... All of it, He should have shut the - up and made this movie back when they first asked him to, Now this is what we get for Bill messing around with GB3 and saying not over and over.
I hope he is happy :gah:

Yea I dunno why that didn't show up in the search for me, I did it by advanced and titles.

Why wouldn't he be? He's rich and successful and isn't in this abomination. :lol

because he let everyone down, And this new movie will come back to haunt him (ironically) Soon after this bad movie comes out people will wonder what the hell was his problem and he will be hated for it... A nerd's hate is strong, and lasts, forever.... :lol

Nah, if anything I'll respect him more for not wanting anything to do with it.

Reitman himself is now saying the original guys never had much of a role. Sounds like there was never anything great for him to come back to, and considering Dan made Blues Brothers 2000, I give Bill 100% of the benefit of the doubt that the script indeed is tripe.

He did GB:TVG and enjoyed the experiance. If the script was good enough, he'd have done it.

I know everyone is going to hate this movie but I am kind of excited it is coming now, If anything just for the cool ghost effects that they will make now.

Terrifyingly interesting.

They haven't even cast this thing, I have to imagine that makes writing a script tough. The humor in the original two was very natural because it was those guys in their prime coming up with it togeather.

Dan is writing this thing solo now. Can Dan write for today's comedians? I'm not so sure.

I loved 21 Jump Street's reboot but it's filthy. I don't want to see such a drastic departure from the originals. GB was the first movie I saw. I'd like to someday, be able to take my own son to go see a Ghostbusters movie but honestly, would you take a kid to see Jonah Hill's 21 Jump Street violent lsd sex adventures?

They should just reboot it all together and recast the main characters. I don't want to watch a Ghostbusters movie without Peter, Ray, Egon & Winston.

Apart from the studios wanting to make as much money off of the Ghostbusters name, I don't understand why any of this HAS to happen

It would be nice if the film were made because somebody said 'hey, you know I've got a really cool idea for a Ghostbusters story that I'd love to make into a movie'

Instead it's more like 'hey, we've got the rights to Ghostbusters, surely we can make some money of of that, any ideas?'

Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, these guys knew comedy and how to improvise, CaddyShack is full of improv and it's great, I just don't see much of that these days and so the comedy just won't be the same - that's awfully judgemental of me

I wonder if they still wanna get Jonah Hill for this or not, that would ruin it

All I know is if Michael Cera puts on a jumpsuit I'm throwing my proton pack out of a plane onto Dan Aykroyd's house.

If he did Garfield, there was no reason he couldn't do this.

Michael Cera, Jonah Hill and Ashton Kutcher :lol

and the added ghostbuster girl to be Zooey Deschanel :lol:lol

The only comedian off-hand that should get a role that I can think of is Charlie Day. No doubt about it, either on the actual team or as the Rick Moranis to this generation.

Btw Jason Sudekis(an SNL alum) who's been mentioned before as in the running, was just cast in the Fletch reboot. Wouldn't be surprised to see him considered here again.

this is an excellent post. Although I really don't see that happening for some reason
