Why in GOD'S name would they remake ROBOCOP, the first is classic and cannot be improved much, except for maybe cleaning up some of the stop motion, but then that is insulting the great Phil Tippett. Hollywood has hit the dead end.

That is what I am thinking as well, but these guys have been pretty good at digging up the posters, they released that Dragonball poster which looked worse then this photoshoped crap and was actually the studio poster.

another unnecessary remake of a classic film. robocop still stands the test of time. remaking it is a traversty. unless there's a radical new take i don't see the point.

that exact poster showed up at some official trade show for merchandising, so i think it's legit.

very, very crappy but legit.

has H-wood really run out of original ideas so they need to remake a movie that has absolutely no need? the original was already kickass. sheesh.

 ^^^^! Are you sure????? The poster really looks 80'sish, I mean check out the colour but then, the mouth looks nothing like Weller. I REALLY hope this is just B.S. I really do!

Has anyone seen part III? There is your answer to having someone other than Peter Weller playing the part. Sounds like a simple role to play but would the Terminator have been so good if someone other that AUUUUUNIE played the role?

This is ^^^^ED! Hollywood is messed!

I'm sure I've seen this before, and it meant that Robocop was set in 2010...

Of course I could be wrong...

If so, another great film not in need of a remake?

I just finished reading that as well at CHUD.com so you may be right...Hwood has no original bone left in its decaying corspe.

i love how drek like this still gets green-lit but i can't get an agent to even read my screenplays.
:banghead

Hollywood seems to believe that we, the public, want to see remakes. It's crap, I know I am sick and tired of seeing the same ideas rehashed over and over again. Some, I don't mind... But many are terrible. This is the latter. :banghead

Is there actually going to be a remake, or is it just speculation?

I'd definitely rack it up as a terrible idea, especially remaking a movie that isn't even that old. and (to me) is already badass to begin with :rock

I heard the rumour of a remake but who says this isn't a sequel? Sort of like Superman Returns which was a sequel to Superman and Superman II and disregarded III and IV, this could be a sequel to Robocop and (hopefully) pretend that Robocop II and III don't exist.

I like Robo 2...lets pretend that 3 never happened...which it never did...Robo 3...you so crazy:monkey3

Awful idea.

CANNES -- MGM could be bringing back the Cold War.

"Red Dawn," John Milius' 1984 tale of a group of American rebels fighting Soviet forces, is a candidate for a remake, studio toppers Harry Sloan and Mary Parent revealed Saturday at the American Pavilion in Cannes.

They also confirmed that 1987's "Robocop" could resurface in a new version.

As for all the bad buzz surrounding "Valkyrie," from MGM subsidiary UA, Sloan said that photos of an eyepatch-clad Tom Cruise as an SS office were "a little bit unfortunate," but were released to reassure the German government about the seriousness of the project.

MGM/UA's prepared to prevail over the nay-sayers. "We've had image problems before," Sloan said, alluding to early negativity on hits like "Casino Royale" and "Rocky Balboa." "The film will speak for itself.

It would be nice to have a 'sequel' to Robocop. I liked the second film, but it was a bit too cartoonish. The third film should have been burned at the stake!

Didn't Hollywood already do a remake earlier this year?:rotfl

whoa, how is that insulting tippett?

he hasn't done any stop-motion work since coneheads, i think.
he does cgi just like everybody else, now. so, he'd probably be the one messing with a remake anyway.
i'd call that starship troopers sequel he did more of an insult to his work than anything.

On the bright side it could mean more hot toys goodness.

From a stinking remake, no thanks!

It obviously will also have a PG-13 rating. I'm a big fan of the original RoboCop, i will ignore this remake completely!!!
