Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

As far as Craig Bonds, the only benefit to Spectre is it allows BCS to avoid the female body figures for a little longer because they could offer Bond, Blofeld and Mr. Hinx. Though I'd have little interest in either villain.

I would hope, if they move to Craig so early, that they go with Casino Royale and offer Bond (tux), Le Chiffre (velvet tux) and Vesper (black or purple dress).

That said, seems like there's been so many unlicensed Craig Bonds flying around, it is very uninteresting to me. Plus, he's done with the movies, so EON may want to push their tried-and-true legends rather than the one they just divorced themselves of.

I still believe we're in for more "classic" Bonds next from the 60's or 70's. I don't think old Bond is any more stale than OT Star Wars or any other 'classic' franchises or films.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Personally not interested in a Craig figure. I've never felt that he either looked or acted like a Bond. He was born of the Bourne school of thought. I have never thought the direction they took was a good one.
Of his 4 movies, each had 1 decent scene:
Casino Royale- the airport scene
Quantum - the airplane scene
Skyfall - the opening car chase scene
Spectre- the opening copter scene

I have tried to, but can't watch these movies again after seeing them all at the cinema.

Add to that, as said above - all the Craig releases out there already.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

No, not yet. I'm not expecting anything until Monday at the earliest though. I imagine they're off for the weekend like most places. I just told them this is my first time trying to order with them and I'm a dumb American so I'm hoping they'll have pity on me and help. :)

Haha, hopefully they take pity on me too! :)

I think:

Jaws
Stromberg
Bond in naval battledress

I agree with the choice of TSWLM! It's one of Moore's best Bond films! My three figure choice characters from the movie would be:

James Bond in battledress

Jaws

Anya Amasova (Agent XXX)

Stromberg is a marvelous villain, but I think that I'd rather have XXX. Although this doesn't mean that I wouldn't get Stromberg if they made him instead of XXX (or if they made both! :lol)

I wonder if BCS is ready for scantily clad female figures?

Speaking of scantily clad female figures, Trina Parks who played Thumper in Diamonds are Forever has expressed interest to BCS in having her figure made:

I know that many people did not care for DAF, but I think it's wonderful to see that an original actor from the film is interested in seeing a figure of their character made. :)

It's not the best of the bunch but I like DAF. That is cool to hear the actress interested in a figure of Thumper but then we'll need a Bambi too.:monkey3 Or how about these two from the movie.:lol

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

There were a lot of pairs in DAF: the gay pair above, the lesbian pair (with Thumper), the pair of Blofelds, Natalie Wood's sister's pair, etc...

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

I hope we get a Lazenby Bond, by far my favorite.

But talking about Connery variants, perhaps his look disguised as a Japanese fisherman? :lol

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

I'm not convinced that they will necessarily keep doing waves of figures anyway, they might just launch each Bond with its own wave of two or three figures, and do single releases in between, so them 'sticking to Connery for now', if true, might just mean the next release being Blofeld or Dr No or Red Grant or something.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Buttmunch makes a great point I think, in that there may not be three figures each time. Moore and Jaws from TSWLM are a no-brainer but as cool as Stromberg was he isn't a high profile villain. So I think a lot of the movies do lend themselves to two figures; or maybe just one, as I don't think a Telly Savalas Blofeld to go along with Lazenby 007 would be too exciting. May just get George on his own, given that the obvious choice for a Blofeld is Donald Pleasance. After that do we really need Telly or Charles? And an eventual pairing of a LALD Moore (if they get around to him again) with Baron Samedi would be cool. But Mr. Big? Nah.
Or perhaps they eventually just do a villains wave... say Dr. No, Scaramanga, and Zorin (the best thing about AVTAK).

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

They shouldn't stick to any pattern and they shouldn't make anything that won't sell out and is 't visually interesting; they should also avoid trying to repeat anything Sideshow have done. A Dr No Bond in tux would work; a FRWL Bond with sterner expression, hat and briefcase with all the gadgets, plus Red Grant; a Thunderball Jetpack Bond; a Pleasance Blofeld with cat and chair; a kilt Lazenby with alternative skiing outfit and a Tracey figure from OHMSS, done right, would be attractive. Can't see much else from the Sixties selling really well.

Seventies and Eighties - SWLM Moore, Moonraker spacesuit Moore, Jaws, Tux Moore and that's about it.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

How many Freaks are getting all 3, 2 or just Bond ?

Arggh .. must resist the temptation :0

I never bought from BCS in the past and just worry
the In hand pics ( 9 months later) will be different
from the Prototype. Even with a killer Headsculpt ,
If The clothes come out different, it would be disappointing

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Paints are always what I worry about most, when it comes to Big Chief. With every good release I always hope that it means they have finally got that sorted once and for all, but sadly it still seems a bit all over the map, and so at this point in time it still feels like a bit of a lottery to me. If they can pull together a few releases on the trot without paint issues I'll start to feel better and more confident that such issues are largely a thing of the past, but right now, if I'm honest, I'm always worried about the final paint apps and just how they'll turn out.

I totally agree. I think its better not to be locked into the 3-pack thing. Pairs would make sense. And the occasional single.

I was throwing out the 3 character possibilities only as an example of what could be. Needless to say, it would be hard to do 3 worthy characters for many of the films.

Totally agree with Tom Day -- we NEED the jetpack Bond from Thunderball.

What, you mean Bambi & Thumper? They're weren't lesbians. DAF figures would be an instant pass from me. I can picture the Bond one now. It would feature a new mould, to take into account Connery's noticeable weight gain, and interchangeable hair pieces, to mach Connery's hairpiece changing colour throughout the film.

I meant to write 'They aren't....' . Call it a slip of the keyboard.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

Bought Bond and Odd Job. They did NOT discount £30 like they were supposed to. (Order 2 and get £30 off for paying in full). Better be a rebate check.

Re: Big Chief Studios Acquires James Bond License

BCS seems to be having some issues with the payment in full discounts coming up. According to a Facebook post from them, they are working on getting it resolved.

I was able to get my pre-order in for the first edition three pack today after BCS customer support got back to me. I'm looking forward to seeing these in hand! :)
