Looks like a great project to compliment a cool figure! Curious, Dorg, what do you sculpt with? Looks like wood putty.

Hi mano, I am not really a sculptor! I have been really fortunate enough to have been given heads to take casts from. Then I work into the casts, adding a bit of me to them.
When I do add extra parts I use games workshop green stuff. I really want to learn to sculpt.

So do I! :lol N 'n' N (that's not a typo) is coming along pretty well tho... you should try sculpting a simple human face, not based on anyone, and keep in mind...

1. faces are made from skin over a skull, so try sculpting a basic skull-like understructure (mostly a smooth egg shape with eye socket-shaped holes), then add over it. To conserve sculpting material, put a thin layer of clay over a tin foil ball (just take some tin foil and crumple it up til it can't be crumpled no more!). After a thin layer covers the ball, add to it until the desired egg/human head shape is established.

2. things like brow ridges, eyelids, and lips can be added by rolling small pieces of clay into thin cylinders, adding the cylinders to the sculpt, and blending them in the appropriate areas (you'd want to blend brow ridges on all sides, but you wouldn't want to blend your eyelid into the eye!)

3. For eyes, put a ball of clay in the eye-socket you made (see #1) and add thin worm-like pieces to it (see #2) to serve as eyelids. I'd say about 1/3 of the ball should be visible after the eyelids go on.

4. sculpting will never get you a perfect 3D representation of what's in your head (unless what's in your head is also a 3D model on a computer, and you're sculpting with a CAD machine... :D)... You can get close if you're lucky or very experienced, tho.

5. (optional) START WITH ZOMBIES!!! This way, if you can only sculpt one good ear, don't sculpt the other one, leave it missing with a chunk of flesh taken out of the side of the head. This way your sculpt doesn't have to be perfect and imperfections can actually add to your sculpt.

that's my mini-tut, hopefully it'll help you get started... I don't know much, but I'm learning more and more through experience!

I was thinking you should do a helmet Dorgs...

here's pics from the clone wars(the real one, not the crappy new one)

I think the action figure style Darthgothikus posted is much better suited for a 1/6 scale figure thats gonna sit along side Medicom, Marmit, Sideshow or even Hasbro Clones and Jedi's, the cartoons were visually like a Genndy Tartakovsky caricature version of Star Wars in my opinion, I enjoyed them but it bothered me that they used the exact same style as Dexters laboratory. I know the CGI series still has some of this style in but they have at least toned it down quite a bit.

I didn't mean that it should look exactly like the cartoon, I thought the pics could serve as good reference for
making a realistic version (like the way SS did Clone Wars Kenobi from the cartoon but made him look realistic. These pics show what kind of robes he needs, etc. a lot clearer than pics of a 3 3/4" figure IMO (the lines are much clearer because it's a cartoon)

:D

...and to be fair, the 3 3/4" figure looks like he's wearing some sort of "Mankini"

Not a good look, even for a alien.

bit more done on the lancer... very tiered tonight. I really think I am going to have to give up work. I really want to spend more time with my dollies... humm maybe I will ask the Mrs in the morning......

looks excellent Dorgs!

Whoever asks you to leave the forum is a nunbnutts who would be utterly destroying our lives, as most threads in the custom section would die and sink to the bottom (uh oh, now you've got me started!)... Asking you to leave the forum for talking about bums is like asking C-3PO to go die because his dialect of Bocce isn't used by Tusken Raiders... :lol

Funny you should get back onto this one the same time I start a project I've been planning for a looooong time.

All I'm saying at the moment is Pimp my Gonk will look like an exercise in restrained, subtle, design. :horror

Hey! You stoled Dorgsie's thread...

That's not nice.

Where do you get these 1/6 bikes anyway? (could someone PM me the answer?)

Its just to bad their getting harder to come by, and then Dorgmal goes and chops one up in to pieces and Darthgothikus goes and sprays one white, those were probably the last of them.:monkey2

Dormal it looks awesome!

Darthgothikus you making a bike for your clones?

LOL I stockpiled these awhile back in preperationfor the eventual Sideshow Scout troopers.

Gave one to Dorgs 'cos I like him.

Still got three in the loft!

No, this ones not for the clones, this ones a bit... Special. :naughty

I just couldnt get my self to chop one up unless I had at least 4 of them, when I first saw Dorgmal's chopped up speeder pictures it almost brought me to tears.:rotfl

I only got one, but I almost picked up a lot of 2 bikes with scout troopers that was going for $120 shipped about a week ago, and now I'm kicking myself for not doing it.:banghead
