My first SW Mafex had to be Boba, which I’m using in my mostly Figuarts and a few Black Series display. There was no contest, this has to be the best Boba out there and it has convinced me I need to retire my Figuarts Mando and get the Mafex version.

I’ll never get photos to match Shootingthegalaxy’s quality but I was at my desk the other evening with the sunset coming through the blinds and had to capture it :)

Just got mine in the post. He's fantastic. The weathering paintapps are a bit crude but that's my only criticism right now.

Looking forward to the ESB version.

I lately purchased mando, got the first releases of boba and they are really great.
The ones on sale right are just reissues right ?

Yeah the ESB and ROTJ are straight reissues.

I had ROTJ Boba and was in the minority cause I did NOT like it. His legs are comically skinny and he has ugly shoulder joints that can't be hidden and don't pose well. On the first edition, the plastic felt very thin and brittle so I was afraid to even move it.

I eventually got the Black Series ROTJ Fett and liked it a lot more. It feels sturdy and durable and less like a model kit, which the Mafex felt like. I ended up giving the Mafex to a friend when I left Japan.

I have the SHF Mandalorian Boba Fett and I absolutely adore it, but I'm interested to see if Mafex can top it. All we've seen are one photo of the prototype, so I guess we'll see how it turns out in about two or three years.

I'll agree on the thighs. They could be a bit bigger. Frontally his legs seem to be the same width all the way.

I've been hesitant to ask but what did you do with your collection generally? Like the '89 Batmobile for one....

The 89 Batmobile was too big to ship. The post office turned me away. Any other shipping services from Japan were prohibitively expensive. I left it with a friend, but I don't know when/if or HOW I'll ever get it back.

As for the rest, I had to put everything in boxes and send them the cheapest way possible, which was by surface. It's been two months now and it's all still "in transit." My boxes are on some cargo ship on the ocean somewhere, and honestly there's no guarantee I'll ever see them again. Other people have told me they got their stuff back damaged or with big holes in the boxes where all the stuff spilled out of.

I hate thinking about it, but that was literally my only choice, and there's nothing I can do but sit and wait and hope my stuff shows up.

I had to leave plenty of other stuff with friends too, that was too heavy or fragile to ship. I left tons of books there, glassware designed by manga artists, along with a collection of very expensive posters. Again, no idea if I'll ever see it again. It's incredible how much stuff can accumulate in over a decade of collecting. It was heartbreaking to have to leave so much of it behind, and it's terrible knowing I might not even get the stuff I was trying to "save."

Jeez. Sounds like it'd be cheaper for you buy a hypothetical rerelease?

Or would you at all? I know I've had my regrets about buying such a large, awkward to move/display item, cool and iconic as it is.

Man, even your Mafex Robocop(s?)

This sucks. I hope you're worried for nothing and it all reaches you as you last saw it.

Thanks man.

As for the Batmobile, I don't miss it. It was too big and cumbersome. I just wish I had been able to sell it, cause I really could have used the money to help me move.

Thankfully, I packed away about a a dozen of my favorite small figures in my suitcase that actually came with me back from Japan. MAFEX RoboCop made the cut of course, so at least I have that here with me!

I will never buy anything that size again. I actually rephrased myself there to allow for the slight possibility of being tempted by a Hot Toys Delorean if NECA never makes one for its 1/10 figure line - a Hot Toys Delorean being a 1/6 car, yes, but smaller than the Batmobile - shorter at least. But the likelihood is I'd be put off by the price anyway.

Good. It would have been too bittersweet to finally get that BD figure you've been wanting only after having potentially lost the clean version. Although, it won't surprise me if they rerelease their past Robos again.

Yeah....I don't even like entertaining the thought of losing everything on those cargo ships and never seeing it again, but the thoughts do creep in often cause it's a possibility. But in case of that catastrophic loss, at least I have my "mini Hot Toys" Robocop!

Unfortunately, my NECA ED-209 is in one of those boxes...

Still, I would love if Mafex did do a reissue of their previous Robocops....I missed the Robocop 2 version, and now I desperately want it! There's rumors that NECA is finally considering a Robo-Cain, so that will be a must. Plus I want it to go along with the damaged torso version, if that gets released.

The good thing about Mafex's sloooooooow slooooooow release schedule is that by the time those figures happen, I should theoretically have money by then. Just need to get a driver's license and a job and all that first.

But no...I don't think I'll miss that Batmobile. It was nice, but it was just too damn big. Rumor has it McFarlane is gonna release one though, and that's another thing I'll need to get money for, cause I do NOT want to miss that, if true. That would be the scale 1989 Batmobile I've wanted since the first time I saw the movie. Hope we find out soon, but sadly I guess it depends on that cursed Flash movie...

Hey, sorry to usurp the thread here, but I just wanted to report that the last of my boxes came in today, and despite looking like they all went through hell, everything was accounted for on the inside.

All my action figures, my books, even my LPs that I was convinced were gonna shatter.....all of it arrived almost exactly as I had packed it three months ago.

It was pretty harrowing just sitting and waiting for three months while everything I owned was on a cargo ship, spread out over 15 big boxes. I started thinking they got lost, and even started making a list of stuff I was gonna TRY to re-buy.

But all that negativity was a waste of time, cause it all came through. Even the Batman statues I was freaked out about were all fine. What a tremendous, huge weight off my mind this is. It feels like 10 Christmases at once.

Thank you a-dev and everyone else here that was concerned and gave me words of encouragement. I really, truly appreciate it, and it really did help me out. Thank you!

That's great to hear man. I remember the massive stress you were under when you had to figure out what the hell you were going to do with it all. I didn't envy you.

So now you're back in a position to enjoy those upcoming Mafex Robocops, you've got your NECA ED-209 back too presumably.

By the way, that McFarlane Batmobile you mentioned. I had heard nothing about that. 1/10 scale? Or did they shrink their stuff slightly to 1/12? I haven't bought a McFarlane product in...wow...whenever their Robocop was. But I would certainly consider buying a Batmobile - it would give me the option of selling my Hot Toys one in the future.

And by way of being somewhat ontopic - my Boba Fett ESB version has now shipped from BBTS.

My NECA ED-209 is now in America for the first time....thank goodness! I'm very much looking forward to the day I can him with the upcoming MAFEX battle-damaged RoboCop!

As for MAFEX Star Wars....I actually don't have any! But all of my Black Series and SHF figures are now here in their new home.

Even though I love the SHF Mando Boba Fett, I just might bite on the MAFEX version when it comes out.

If I have any money by then, that is.

Good looking Mando and Bo Katan there. Trouble is, Mafex are pricey and not easy to import to the UK without getting hit by customs. The proportions on Bo are the best I've seen. Even HT didn't get the helmet size quite right. I wonder if it's because the helmet on this one doesn't have to fit over a head......
