My damn Hot Toys DX Star Lord came with a broken knee joint. Its just flopping around. I packed it right back up and contacted Sideshow.

After over 30 of these figures purchased I guess I was "due" for an issue. So disappointing.

*sigh* SS wants me to take pictures and videos before authorizing a return/exchange. I told them this thing is broken and about to fall off already I'm not comfortable unpacking the thing again and redoing the entire situation with the risk of breaking it.

Over 32 orders with them and never had a problem save for a box issue... now it's difficult to do this.

But if I wanted to return it for a refund then they wouldn't have issue.

Small suggestion, put the helmet on the ground, put Groot in the helmet, it's like he has his own small space shuttle :)

They often just send a new part. They're probably trying to see if they can just replace the lower leg rather than the whole figure/body.

I understand that- but I am not going through trying to get the pants off and such to do all that. I paid near $275 for this- I shouldn't have to repair it.

You might not have to, but you still have to follow their return procedures to get a replacement part or figure. This just seems like complaining for having to do the tiniest bit of work (proving damage) to get your replacement/refund. Taking off the shoes and pants might just reveal that the joint isn't connected properly and not actually broken.

Lets be clear chief- it isn't "complaining" when I paid as much as I did for this.

This is like me saying you're complaining when you get served a burger that isn't put together when it comes out. Because guess what?

That isn't what you paid for.

This ^ You are 100% correct.

If nothing else is wrong with the figure, I would take the knee joint. You never know the replacement could be worse than what you have now.

Of course if you buy something it should not arrive broken. But replacing the knee joint is pretty easy, you might need some needle-nose pliers to pry it loose. Sometime they glue it in the upper leg.

I agree- but where it is still listed for preorder I'm going to risk getting one from the fresh production run then a replacement that came with issues (like mine did).

The point is the other guy made it seem like I was whining because I don't want to take the figure apart to fix an issue that shouldn't have happened. **** happens, sure, but still.

I'll make the same point I did before- would he say the same thing if a burger joint brought out the ingredients and told him "hey you paid for something, but heres a curve ball- now do it yourself."

I'm not sure if they say it beforehand, but to be fair, the "show us the damage and we'll send you a replacement for that one piece" has been Sideshow's standard procedure for a long time.

It makes sense to me...you can imagine that HT gives them a batch of figures that they cannibalize for replacement parts. If you need a knee joint, another person an arm, and a third an accessory, that's three happy customers with only one figure lost. Seems like a good practice to me.

Not to mention, as centrocal stated, it's an easy-ish fix and you'll know that the rest of your parts are ok. It's a gamble if you send the whole thing back.

This is not to say you shouldn't be upset. You should. Just that it's not surprising that this is the course of action they're taking.

To be clear I had sent in two photos of the joint at a 90ish degree and one where you see the left leg is longer than the right already. They asked for more photos and a video. I don't want to do all that and something further happens. What I sent should suffice.

Whats that mean? I am perfectly capable of performing the actions- very well versed. I just think the request for additional evidence is absurd.

Well i would be curious just to see what is broken. i like to examine all my new figures to see how they are constructed. Its a common break. But its not a part you can buy separately. So they need to send it to you.

I just meant if you didn't know how to take a video and attach it to an email, or god forbid didn't have a smartphone, you'd be screwed. That's all.

Again, lets be clear- you should not have to fix near $300 figures. If this was an Iron Man release I wouldn't be as opposed because there isn't the removal of anything. But I shouldn't have to take the thing apart and potentially cause further harm to fix an issue that was clearly in existence when the figure was boxed. I legit pulled it out of the tray and the lower left leg was broken. I hadn't even touched it.

To remove the pants , first unzip the jacket. then you have undo the belt (duh :lol) People have reported this belt buckle doesn't close all the way. then just pop the feet off

There is nothing in my replies that indicate I didn't know how to do it- it is for near $300 I shouldn't have to do all of that.
