I happen to still think its a very good movie but that's incidental. When I said what you quoted I was referring to this forum generally. Everyone (apart from the cool people) was giving it 10/10. I'm sure you remember.

Avatar was still the worst here though. :lol The hype that movie generated was the most unwarranted I've ever seen on the internet.

Ah, I gave it 7,5/10 back there. Can't say I'd rate it differently today... Maybe just 7/10

Hmmm, entertaining movie but not one I care to see an entire franchise built around as is the plan. Really wish Cameron would do something else.

Iron Man / Winter Soldier / Guardians / Avengers

Here's why Guardians edges out Avengers to me, they did everything that the Avengers movie did + told origin stories for all of it's characters without getting bloated. Without the other movies, as a stand alone, Avengers simply does not work on the same level. You would feel no emotion for these characters that have no back story.

The Avengers biggest victory is a technical one. They successfully combined actors from existing movies. And that's nothing new. Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein came out in 1948 folks.

:lol yeah. I rate movies for what they are, not for what I think they are. If that makes any sense...

It does. I differ from that though, I rate based on personal enjoyment. And pretty much any of my faves from the 80s/90s get shameless 10/10s, T1, T2, P1, Aliens etc etc.

Also the humor was actually funny and the finale wasn't a copy of "Phantom Menace".

Hmmm, that's fair enough if you insist on comparing them as stand-alones. But otherwise it shouldn't work against Avengers. Avengers didn't do origin stories for its characters because it didn't need to and that was the intention in the first place with each having their own movies beforehand.

That also is what you think they are.

Yeah, besides, there's much more to explain and back story expectations to be met with the Avengers characters.

The only character that actually gets kind of an "origin" in GotG is Quill, the rest only get so much as a sentence explaining their origin.

Gran Torino - 7,5/10

I can feel that the original script was very strong and could be adapted into a masterpiece. Unfortunately, that did not happen... Much wasn't held properly and some necessary things were completely forgotten. In addition they should of either completely abandon the pathos and go full mundane or make a full-fledged drama.

TMNT 4/10 I liked the turtles, Shredder and the action sequences.

Everything else was beyond generic.

Also, I saw it dubbed :gah: it's punishment to watch movies like that, so maybe that affected my enjoyment.
