Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2

Hero:
10 out of 10
- I almost gave this 8 or 9 out of 10 but since Yondu went to hero status I moved it up to 10. I gave the first film a 10 out of 10 here. I think the reason this one scores lower is because they split the team up for most of the film and they are better as a group.. Not sure.. Or its just not as well written as the first.. They are not bad mind you but just not as good as the first film.

Villain:
6 out of 10
- This should be a 10 out of 10 damn it.. Freaking Kurt Russell should be an easy homerun.. But he ends up being an average CGI planet in the 3rd act and it does not really work for me.. :(

Side characters:
8 our of 10
- I give an 8 out of 10 for Nebula and Taser face :lol

Story:
7.5 out of 10
- A decent story.. Not great overall but it has heart all through it and that makes up for the overall plot.

Action:
5 out of 10
- Pretty good.. Not great. Fighting a CGI planet is just not all that exciting. There really is not all that much more action is there?

Musical Score:
6 out of 1
0 - Again this is just for the score and not the rock tunes.

Overall enjoyment:
7.5 out of 10 -
I still enjoy this one. But its not as good as the first. Overall the hero's and the heart carry this otherwise average entry.

Final Score - 50 out of 70

Doctor Strange 6/10

Really not much to say, almost unbearably average In every aspect. But as a 3D enthusiast with a nice projector, the imax scenes are pretty spectacular. Shout out to the nasty car crash and close up of his messed up hands.

Civil war 6.5/10

Oh lord ! Way too long and way too much boring conversation. There seems to be 2 different movies going on here. One a direct sequel to the Bucky capt atory line , and one avengers 3. Really don’t mesh well together. How could a child sit through most of the beginning and the end ? Meanwhile the main center setpeice was custom made for the kids to hoo rah! I am a fan of the early action scenes, there’s a stairwell fight followed by a foot chase which I thought was spectacular and gritty. And enjoy the main set piece, and think the finale was pretty brutal and entertaining. It just doesn’t come together for me. And then the main conflict and villain, complete bore ! Not to mention this is where the avengers leave off ? Before the big emotional show down finale where we are supposed to feel for them as a team ? They have barely even worked together ever . Meh idk

My sentiments exactly.

The capt Bucky storyline with black panther as a new side character could have been perfect

Busy weekend.

Spider-man: Homecoming

Hero: 10 out of 10 - Tom Holland has nailed the young Spidey character.. Fun and charming. Great stuff here.

Villain: 8 out of 10
- Keaton is IMO the scariest villain in the MCU. Why? Because when he threatens to kill Peter Parker... I believe him. If he was in the movie a little more I would give him a 10 out of 10

Side characters: 7 our of 10 - I enjoyed Parker's Friends more with this 2nd viewing. RDJ and Aunt May are great also. Not in love to the changes they made to Flash.. He's a bully ?

Story: 6 out of 10 - Solid enough. Nothing terribly great but good enough to keep my interest.

Action:
5 out of 10
- If this was the Spidey we saw in Civil War then I would probably go 10 out of 10 but they decided to take a step back and make it more about Parker still figuring things out. Nothing all that great or exciting. Really its been a day and I cant remember any of the action scenes.

Musical Score:
7 out of 1
0 - Pretty good score with a theme that I recognize while I watch the film and promptly forget after the film is over.

Overall enjoyment: 7 out of 10 - Enjoyed this much more the 2nd time. I appreciated Peter's friends much more which was a reason I did not like the movie more the first time. If this film had some kick ass action scenes I would score it much higher. The perfect Spidey film has yet to be made IMO.

Final Score - 50 out of 70

Thor: Ragnarok

Hero: 10 out of 10 - Is Loki a hero now? Sure why not. Chris is great as usual.. I have no issues with these two. Hulk / Banner could have been better.. They felt forced TBH.

Villain: 5 out of 10
- I love Jeff Goldblum.. Not really a true villain but I am giving him the title since he was far better then Hela.. Who looked great but all the joking made her seem less of a threat.. For Goldblum that works as he is not trying to kill everyone. They really issed a great opportunity with Hela.

Side characters: 6 our of 10 - I really like Valkyrie but boy do I hate Korg.. Shut up for just a minute Korg.. Please.

Story: 6 out of 10 - I would like the story more if it played it a bit more serious and cut down on the jokes.

Action: 7 out of 10 - Both Hammer of the Gods Moments and Hulk vs Thor were great. Rest of it is OK. Nothing special but not bad either.

Musical Score: 7 out of 1
0 - Nice Retro 80's score.

Overall enjoyment: 6 out of 10 - Just not one of my fav.. Like I said if they cut down on the jokes it would be better. I mean does everything in the film have to have a punchline? Play it a bit more serious.. At least as far as Hela is concerned and this would have been a much better film IMO

Final Score - 47 out of 70

Black Panther

Hero: 7 out of 10 - If BP was as interesting as he was in CW he would be a 10 out of 10 for sure... As is, he is still very good.

Villain: 8 out of 10
- Killmonger and Klaue are both great. Its too bad they killed Klaue as quickly as they did and took almost half a movie to get killmonger really involved.. As is though these two make up one of the better Marvel film villains.

Side characters: 10 our of 10 - This is the highlight of the film.. All the females in this film are cast and played perfectly.. Female hero's done right. All the supporting cast is great in this film..

Story: 7 out of 10 - I enjoy this movie the more I watch it. I appreciate the story a bit more and enjoy its flow. Much of that has to do with a great cast. Miss on the cast and this story could be a real drag.

Action: 3 out of 10 - And this is were the film really suffers.. Too much bad CGI that takes me out of the action. Bad final battle. The fight in the casino is a highlight.. Mostly because of the Female characters, who are again fun to watch.

Musical Score: 10 out of 1
0 - Outstanding score. Great theme and wonderful percussion... I like the African / royalty feel of the score. A standout in the MCU for sure.

Overall enjoyment: 8 out of 10 - This film has improved with repeat viewing for me. I can more easily ignore the bad CGI and just enjoy the characters and story.. Had the action been top notch I think this could be up there with some of the MCU's best..

Final Score - 53 out of 70

Doctor Strange 6/10

Really not much to say, almost unbearably average In every aspect. But as a 3D enthusiast with a nice projector, the imax scenes are pretty spectacular. Shout out to the nasty car crash and close up of his messed up hands.

Crazy how different we see Civil War :)

The Avengers 7.5/10

The movie surprisingly gives each character a sufficient amount of screen time. The banter is great. Most of the action is very average but the finale is great and lasts a long while. Mostly stunning in 3D. It’s pretty well paced while never really intense or suspenseful. A lot of the dialogue is dull and cringey especially when explaining the plot (which is also dull). The opening few minutes is hideous in every way. Can barely even see. And worst of all there seems to be this made for tv joss whedon glaze of everything. Particularly in the costuming (omg captain America) , the effects, and the sort of serialized choppy story telling. But all in all the characters are great and well casted (except scarlet, she just doesn’t fit for me, she can barely run) and it’s some epic superheroing. I also don’t care for Loki at all or anything he does, just not interesting. Avengers assembling makes most of the negatives disappear into thin air.

I actually enjoyed it a lot my first viewing in the theater. I bought the blu Ray right away. But after watching it during my marathon I think the truth was revealed. To have Bucky and capt basically go through the same thing as they did in winter soldier is very redundant. And a 2 1/2 runtime [emoji43][emoji99]

I cheated a bit and watched this before Infinity War. Wanted to save that one for my last viewing before Endgame.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Hero: 10 out of 10 - Ant-man (Paul Rudd) is great as usual though not as good as the original but still great. However I thought Wasp was great also, so its a 10 for this movie.

Villain: 4 out of 10 - I love Walton Goggins but he was wasted.. Ghost was an ok villain but not enough character. Fishburne does not real register as a villain.. Not one of MCU's better efforts in this area. End up hurting a lot of my enjoyment.

Side characters: 10 our of 10 - Love Scott's friends and Hank Pym. No complaints here.

Story: 6 out of 10 - A better villain would have helped this story a lot.. Not much really going on in this movie. Its still fun but very empty.

Action: 7 out of 10 - Much like the first film the action is a lot of fun. Wasp is a highlight for sure.

Musical Score: 6 out of 10 - Fun for the most part. A few good moments but mostly a typical Marvel score.

Overall enjoyment: 6 out of 10 - I enjoyed this more with my 2nd viewing. Its still nowhere near the first film IMO but still fun. As I said before a better villain would have really helped this film.

Final Score - 49 out of 70

Avengers: Infinity War

Hero: 9 out of 10 - If Hulk didn't have such a weak showing this would be a 10 out of 10... Hulk is my fav Marvel hero so I am biased for sure.. Granted this is just part 1 and Hulk could be redeemed in Endgame.. However from what I have heard I don't think its going to make up for how he was used in this film.. Everyone else was perfect.

Villain: 10 out of 10
- Best Marvel Villain period. All his henchmen where pretty good also but Thanos.. Wow!

Side characters: 10 our of 10 - What few there are, are handled well. All the hero's and the villain are the main focus.. I guess if I count the Henchman and some of the "cameos" like Spidey's friend and BP's sister... I feel weird giving it a 10 out of 10 but can't punish it either. This movie was about a bunch of main characters and not costars.

Story: 8 out of 10 - How the Russo's did this I do not know. To juggle all these characters and storylines and do it well is really amazing.. I found Thor's trip to make his new ax to be the only part of the film that drags but it does give us Thor taking on a Star so that's pretty great.

Action: 10 out of 10 - All the action is pretty top notch.. Wakanda is the weakest action scene but that's no insult as the rest of the film is filled with great action scenes. The battle on Titan is a Marvel highlight for sure.

Musical Score: 8 out of 1
0 - After the joke of an Avengers score we got from Danny Elfman, the Russo's were smart to bring back Alan Silvestri.

Overall enjoyment: 9 out of 10 - This is my 4th viewing and probably my least fav viewing.. But its still great.. Not my fav but darn close.

Final Score - 64 out of 70

Infinity War 7/10

Finally finished up with this one. Had some newbies over for the ride which always gives me a fresh new look. So much to say so little time. So short points. The bad : clunky story chugging along. Blah blah who cares what each stone does it barely matters. Too many powers are unexplained causing there to be a lack in tension in the action and in the basic plot. (The rules are made up and the points don’t matter !) “well why doesn’t he just do that! Why doesn’t she just use that!” -My friends. Too much quirky banter back and forth, funny in the theater , not funny at all at home. Main hero’s doing nothing. Captain America ??? Hulk??? Spider-Man’s inclusion is hugely misplaced. And just a huge gap of talking and slogging right in the middle of the movie. Thor on that planet , gamora tiptoeing around the obvious and predictable.

The good: great charactization for Nebula, Iron man , doctor strange was ACTUALLY cool. Insanely fun action scenes and stunning in 3D. Nothing beats the team ups on Earth ny streets, titan, and Wakanda ( although this one was the most dissapojnting of the three) The movie had an urgency thanks to the insanely simple collect six stones motive. And what I assume to be permanent deaths to vision, Loki , and gamora and a tiny bit of suspense even though it’s about time and just not really all that emotional.

I’m stoked for endgame ! 7:00 tonight in imax 3D perfect seats !

Revised after 2nd viewing.

There are Spoilers Ahead!!!!

Avengers: Endgame

Hero: 8 out of 10 - Sorry but as a Hulk fan I am taking off two points for how they treated him in this film.. Two Many stairs was great though.

Villain: 6 out of 10
- Hmmmm. Thanos.. I did not enjoy him as much in this film.. He was a different character since he was an Different timeline Thanos… But I liked the first movie version better then this one.. He had more depth.. Was more traditional in this one I guess and I did not like him as much.

Side characters: 10 our of 10 - Everyone played their parts well

Story: 7 out of 10 - I enjoyed the time travel storyline more the 2nd time.. Just wish they had a little more fun with it. Overall the story is solid but not great. We deserved great.

Action: 7.5 out of 10 - Let Hulk do something and I give this another point.. Final battle was amazing but No Hulk moment hurts it.. I did not think the action in that scene was as good as the battle on Titan either.. I know people are going to say that the final battle was the best Marvel ever had to offer but there did not seem to be that much action in this film accept for that 20 min sequence.. So that is reflected in the score.

Musical Score: 10 out of 1
0 - enjoyed the score much more the 2nd time

Overall enjoyment: 8 out of 10 - I enjoyed this much more the 2nd time. Still not an all time Marvel movie but a great one

Final Score - 56.5 out of 70

Where do you put the first Cap film?

EDIT: I see you have TWS listed twice so TFA must be the one in the "Great" bracket. :)

Woops.. Yep it goes in the great bracket.

How about that film going from the "Pretty Bad but not Awful" to "Great" for me.

That film was my biggest surprise for sure after re-watching all of these.

Endgame 9/10

Pretty much shocked and blown away. The first movie to successfully build on everything before hand. The first movie to let the actors breathe and ACT. It seemed like a movie made by completely different people. A lack of action from the beginning keeps a point away. The power of not giving anything g away in trailer did this movie a HUGE SERVICE. A bit long for me to say this is one I’ll be re viewing so many times.

Side characters: 10 our of 10 - Everyone played their parts well

Story: 5 out of 10 - I did not enjoy the time travel storyline.. Simple as that and it took up what seems to be about 1.5 hours of run time.. It effected my enjoyment of the Thanos character also.

Action: 7 out of 10 - Let Hulk do something and I give this another point.. Final battle was amazing but No Hulk moment hurts it.. I did not think the action in that scene was as good as the battle on Titan either.. I know people are going to say that the final battle was the best Marvel ever had to offer but there did not seem to be that much action in this film accept for that 35 min sequence.. So that is reflected in the score.

Musical Score: 7 out of 1
0 - I took a point off because I thought the soundtrack sounded like the same musical ques as IW

Overall enjoyment: 6 out of 10 - I really hope that repeat viewings help me with my enjoyment.. Its happened before.. But more then that I hope that this film does not effect my enjoyment of IW. :(

Final Score - 49 out of 70

Great assessment, I'd agree with it. Thought the time travel plot also could have been better
