I honestly only care about the looks and articulation, too, but I totally get being annoyed with the sounds: Even if we're not planning on using them, we are still paying for that jacked up voice.

^^^ This is exactly how i feel. Even though the voice isn't important to the overall quality of the figure i still feel cheated by HT.

not fuzzy with the soundclip gimmick, batteries out asap anyways. the rubber dome however is disappointing. repeating the same mistake over again, intentionally? what where they thinking.:dunno

Yeah, that isn't going to last too long.

Wth is that?
Photo effect or the dome has something going on?
And why the front is damaged like that?

I'm happy now that I did not PO this ED-209, Sorry guys but I aint feeling it.

He looks flimsy and he looks like he could fall apart in the future (I know he probably won't) but he would worry me.

Congratulations to all that are picking him up though.

Its a pic of the one on display at hot toys secret base.
So probably the proto who has been doing the shows all around the world.
Well im still getting it but i hope if anything goes wrong the community Will not buckle up and make some sound.

I'm thinking they did the voice over dub to make the voice louder
Only reason I would think they would do it

They should have hired a decent voice actor if they were re-doing ED-209's voice but HT let one of their chinese staff do it instead resulting in ED-209's asian accent.

Perhaps we could organize ourselfes to have some sort of a plan B.

Certaibly we have really gifted fellows here who are good casters.
So we could probably get a spare cast of the dome just in case it deteriorates in the future...
Know what I mean? :)

Been there done that for the first ED.
Was a pain in the *** and i dont want to add another 50/100usd to the Bill.
Rather make hot toys pay if something like this happen down the Line.
But alas there Will be a lot a ***** ing and no actions taken by the community...

Jesus H Christ that looks absolutely incredible in that kidultshop video. I don't get all the negativity about the sound function. Who gives a ****? I didn't even know there was a sound function on this when I ordered it. Would it have been better if it had been movie accurate? Of course. But look at the detail and articulation on that thing! :rock

Yep. Looks gorgeous. Can't wait for him to arrive this month.

I'd be surprised if that voice chip added even $20.00 to the price. Manufacturers have been adding that stuff for years to cheap, disposable toys. Doubt it's any more costly for HT.

It's been said a few times now that it's probably not a rubber that will deteriorate. I'd save complaining about it until we know for sure. Worst case scenario, I for one am happy there're guys like Anthrapoid around that can replace it for a reasonable cost. If he ends up making them I'll probably buy one even if there's no apparent problem, just to have it as a back-up down the track.

Not trying to be an HT apologist. I get the disappointment with the sound and other nits, but some of the whinging is a little much. IMO, there's still a lot to like with ED, despite it having a few issues on the margins.

Its true that the voice thing isn't a major problem, for me though it just represents something I don't like about HT, liberty-taking and a certain presumptuousness - ''we'll just make up a new voice, no one will care/ we won't even look at the movie, lets just copy what X company did'' etc etc. And the dome, well, if it is the same damn rubber as last time then that's flat out ignorance of a problem that's been documented for years at this point.

Not sure how anyone can draw conclusions from the proto? It's not even made of final materials. And what are we talking about the edges?
