IMO the dios don't take much more horizontal space as a normal collection.
Most people space their figures about the same as I do in these first pictures with or without dios. If the argument is you can fit more figures in the same horizontal space without them, of course its true, but it starts looking like the last picture in my series and who wants that?
The biggest draw back of the dios is shelving depth and height, as long as you space your figures accordingly anyway the dios don't consume much more linear space.
