Thanks to the inspiration of everyone who posted, and their excellent collections. I have completed my besta setup. Now I'm working on finalizing the displays.

Thanks for all the education guys.

Plus, I noticed that not too many people have white bestas - so I figured I'd share a pic to help you guys visualize what white bestas look like.

Anyone know what he's using here?

Did I read that IKEA has discontinued the Tombo doors?

If so, what are people using with their Bestas?

Sorry, but I've been out of things for about two years, and am trying to catch up.

Thanks guys!

Hi obsidian,

I went with white BESTAs with glass doors (mainly because I wasn't fussed with the timber look of the others). I'd take a pic for you but it's empty at the moment.

You may have seen them but here are a few links to others on the board - with the right lighting the white can look very museum-like:

ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR

As psimun said, the Terminator PF fits easy. I had him displayed on the same shelf as the SS T-800 bust which looked quite good.

If you go ahead with the mirror I'd be interested to see pics of that as I've considered putting them in myself.

In the link to "FOUR" above (Darthstitch's collection), does anyone know what white BESTAs and doors he is using?

I think they look very sharp, but was wondering exactly what units/doors he picked out.

Thanks,
Steve

^^

Apparently, those doors are no longer made by IKEA.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what doors (that are still offered by IKEA) work well with the Bestas?

Thanks.

The Tombo doors are the best IMO. Just went to Ikea about a week ago and picked up four. I don't think they're going to be discontinued. Maybe call your local store and check to see if they're in stock?

Can anyone suggest what type of weather stripping to use to dust proof the Besta? I've bought several kinds and it all seems to be too thick in between the cabinet and the tombo doors.

If you get them on the case good and tight dust really shouldn't be able to get in. Use the screw that is farthest into the case and make sure they are pushed as far in as possible. It is hard to explain.

Also I have heard that the 75" tombos are being discontinued but the 25 and 15" will still be sold.

I really wish they would come out with a 50" Tombo or even better a 75" that is the 22" wide.

I can dig it. I just don't want to have to dust inside the displays, ever. :lol. Right now there is barely a gap but still enough, over time, dust will build up. I want to create that "seal" if you will. Yeah a 75x22 door would be boss. I'm sure they will capitalize on people using there stuff as displays and come out with more products. Buying the single Tombos gets way too expensive. I've already bought 8. :monkey4

How do you adhere the Dioder lights to the inside of the Besta case? Is there a peel away sticker or something?

Also, what do people do with the cords so you can't see them very much? Just curious.

Thanks!

Yes it can get very expensive. I hardly ever buy anything that is not in AS-IS anymore. About a month and half ago I went in and found 4 Tombos for $5 dollars each in AS-IS. I usually go by my IKEA about 2 or 3 times a week to check.

Here is my recent Besta setup w/dioder lights installed.

The dioders comes with 2-way tape and a metal bracket that you can screw onto the roof of the shelves. As for the wires, I dremeled a small hole through the backdrop of the shelf. I ran the wire through. With the wooden backdrop you obviously dont see the wires. Its perfect imo.

What kind of condition are they in though? I would check more often but it's a 2 hour drive for me unfortunately. :(

To those using dioders, are you using the brackets or just the tape? I've just taped mine up and I've had a few of them fall on me so far.

Very nice - thank you!
