Got one of these Bespin display bases in this week and man, it is super cool! I'm not one who tends to use light up effects all that much as they're usually pretty disappointing, but this one definitely made me want to have the lights on all the time. As I believe has been mentioned before, the connection to the extra piece is a bit loose, but still works. Even though it won't be exactly accurate, I'm thinking of using this base for the future ROTJ Vader

What is the best way to get the neck adapter out of these Luke heads? I bought a DX25 sculpt to go on the MMS 517 Jedi Deluxe but the hole is too small on that adapter and their doesn't appear to be a easy way to get a grasp on it to pull it out - not much to grab onto there.

I’ve done this before with a heat gun, knife and pliers. It’s pretty hard to do and not make a mark on the inside of the sculpt.

Yeah I figured it wouldn't be easy. My main concern is cracking that adapter as it doesn't appear it would be a easy one to replace unless I am missing something? I wonder why they made such a miniscule change - pretty frustrating. Thanks for your reply.

I popped the head off both Lukes easily. Interesting it's not working as well for you. I'm using DX25 for Deluxe Endor Luke.
Without swapping neck adapters?

edit:
I noted on the heads that come with the Jedi Luke have slightly bigger holes but also seem to be feathered in a bit more around the hole allowing for easier install. My Bespin sculpts hole is notably smaller and doesn't have this feathering. (yeah - sometimes typing this stuff is funny)

I have yet to blast it with heat and try forcing it in, maybe I'll just try that instead.

I literally just plopped this Bespin sculpt on that same ROTJ figure. Did you try a heat gun before hand on the connecting piece?

I am going to try that next.

The adapter hole on the Bespin sculpt is smaller and the surface is flat compared to the Jedi sculpt holes being bigger and feathered inward around the hole. In my case the Bespin adapter isn't playing nicely.

Hmm, about to try this swap myself. Interested to see if mine will cooperate or not.
Yeah man, let me know how it works out for you:duff

I just got this Jedi Luke and it wasn't cheap so I'm being a little hesitant with it when it comes to force - with age consideration coming into play as well.

That said I really don't mind it with the sculpts it comes with especially with the wind blown hair. It looks good in hand. And then the other hair piece will go on Mando Luke.

^Yup, just needed a little heat. I feel kind of stupid now for even bringing it up tbh:slap

I decided to leave it on Snowspeeder Luke though. Thanks again for the comments.

So it clean swaps without any giraffe neck or stubby neck issues?

I'm not sure if the older Luke Jedi, slightly older Luke Snowsp, and the new Mando/Bespin Lukes are somewhat different bodies, and HT bodies do have some slight variation with the neck ball positioning relative to the shoulder line.

I think where I got messed up, other than bereavement and it not going on Jedi Luke even with a lot of force (at least my copy anyway) - is from the outset I thought it wasn't compatible because I didn't really see anyone putting this head on the older body. Sure, we saw hair swaps and what not but not the actual head swap outside of a few instances on here and it wasn't clear if any mods were needed to accomplish it. Justin didn't even do it and he's usually all about that.

So when it didn't immediately pop on, instead of getting out the hair dryer and trying that - I just figured the adapters were different because of the reasons I already explained above. Again, it's been a rough week and my head has been a bit scatterbrained.

Every once in awhile Hot Toys really comes through. I saw the complaints when this was shown but TBH I knewtheoriginal was dated for awhile. I don't care about base things even though the weather vain diorama was cool but sacrificing the battle damaged was something I was OK with doing. If Hot Toys does not make new one maybe one day I will make my own out of the new one but I can live without.

Bare bones as it is what a great figure this is. GREAT. The lack of weathering holds it back from a high score for me but in my opinion it destroys every other Luke in likeness by a large mile.

I will say it here now. HT won me over on rotating eyes officially. Never thought id say it but they finally perfected it. If they all can look as good and realistic and the mechanism as well hidden as this well then, color me excited.

I replicated the weathering from the hallway scene as faithfully as I could I also shaved off the pecs and sides of the shoulders/biceps of his body so the suit lay flatter and appeared more structured.

Finally eyelash, eyebrow, moles, mouth and subtle shading tweaks to bring home the fabulous likeness.

Jedi uses the Yunsil outfit.

Wow! Great work, Ray! I wish he came out of the box looking like that!

Great to hear such a glowing review. I think everyone who has received this in hand has become a convert. I myself was holding out hope for a BD version during SDCC but that failed to appear. Looks like I may have to pick one of these up after all.
