Good clean print (y)

Dean's so good with details, like his ST DS9 Quark sculpt.

Really undecided if I want to go for the bald or haired sculpt. I know rooted hair would give it even more added realism, but the sculpted hair on this already looks pretty damn good.

Just realized that Greggos painting tutorial for 1/6 heads is still online. I used to paint heads following his instructions back im 201X. Great fun back than, although the expectations were not as huge as today. The tutorial however still stands the test of time. It is still good and provides the basics. I may just give it a try and see what 10 years older me is able to come up with. :lol

Getting the hair for Doc right in 1/6 scale is almost impossible. His hair was wild and already fading. It’s not Heath Ledger Adonis like locks. It’s an old man not caring about his wild look. I don’t think I have seen one attempt that nailed this yet. Sculpted hair might be the way to go here. Just accept the lack of realism and have a good looking sculpt might be more satisfying here.

Even though I’d save on the cost of painting because I can do that myself, I still don’t care to pay £100+ for a sculpt. Painting is also a hell of a lot of work to get it up to scratch.

Even though this looks amazing, I’m holding out for the Eleven alternative made available through Kit. Cost effective convenience is king.

Same boat. It'll be at least £112 with long shipping time, £139 quicker.

I'd still love to get the sculpt though. I suppose Dean might do a double pack for $190 with haired and bald.

Kinda want to put together a UK syndicate and order in bulk to drive overall shipping cost down.

I was only looking at Ken's paintup earlier today and comparing to the HT version.

Hopefully there will be a multitude of options for a Doc sculpt. I would fancy having several, so I can change up the look of my Doc from time to time. I think we are lacking a 1955 Doc option to. Having said that maybe the HT Doc sculpt could pass for a '55 Doc, sure looks fresh faced enough.

I still dont get how HT didn't get that crazy eyed look right? That is key to Doc, getting that crazy look right.

Hot Toys should of just hired Dean.

I was sat thinking about the price of this earlier crazy that despite it's faults Asmus evil dead figure was almost the same price!

Despite the faults it came with an insane amount. Hot Toys have gotten sloppy while driving up the costs, sure hope in art stick around would love bttf line from them.

Yeah all the rooted jobs I've seen give him this thick, bright white hair which doesn't look right at all. Plus it needs to get a bit browner at the roots. So it would definitely be a tall order to get right.

And the main reason I've always wanted to root my HT head was to try to improve the likeness, but the likeness on this sculpt doesn't need improved at all.

Someone at the top of their game, with the right yak hair, can nail this, IMO.

The real problem with the HT sculpt (this counts for both variants) is the expression. It’s just not a typical Doc Brown / Lloyd expression. I recall him only twice to have this expression:
1.) Part 1 at the Twin Pine Parking lot when the Delorean did his first time jump and they looked at the burning lane. His hair however was standing high in all directions.
2.) Part 2 when he looked at the newspaper, when this changed to Griffs gang being jailed. This was extremely short however.

Summed up, I simply don’t get what they used as reference back when they’ve created this head. :dunno

I would love to get a smirking expression for at least one variant. The Doc character was enthusiastic and confident, not scared.

I'm pretty sure this publicity shot was their main reference, as the Part 2 figure even includes the same right hand gesture.

It wouldn't have been my first choice, but I still think it's a fine expression for a Doc figure if they had only nailed the likeness better.
