I think people found it difficult to stomach the price for what they felt was a pint sized figure without appreciating the same level of engineering and production costs that goes into a figure regardless of height. The same folks who say figures of Yoda and Rocket should be like half priced.

And I’ve seen there are some who don’t think of the Droids as characters to spend that kind of money on… which is wrong because R2-D2 is the real MVP of Star Wars.

As often happens, it’s not until too late that regret sets in and by then the figure is double the price or more. Granted I think some were genuinely caught off guard by how relatively quickly it also sold out. Hot Toys didn’t seem to make as many as might’ve been expected.

I also like the Sideshow R2 a lot for what it is, but it’s leagues apart from the Hot Toys version when next to each other.
Realistically how many announcements shoud we expect from this next AOTC wave ?

I'd see no more than three.

Good question. I would think 3 is a safe bet as well. Maybe 3-5? Hopefully those all go up for preorder instead of just being a teaser.

I’m usually not very optimistic about these things, but the best case scenario could be something like…

1. Padme (Geonosis)
2. Anakin (AOTC)
3. Obi-Wan (AOTC)
4. Mace Windu (Geonosis)
5. Kit Fisto (Geonosis)

I say Kit because of the prototype. Aayla Secura and Plo Koon would be huge but feel unlikely.

Ultimately it could be just the main 3 from AOTC, or just 1 figure and a bunch of Cosbabies. We’ll see what happens.

If you look at the SS bounty hunters, their edition size is tiny compare to what HT makes these days. They need the current shows to feature them to drive potential sales. If 4-LOM uses enough 3PO parts to lower development costs, they might go ahead. Maybe Zuckuss will show up.

I’m not sure if the ESB Bounty Hunters really have enough mass appeal to warrant wide releases. I mean look at IG-11. He had more personality and did way more than IG-88, but yet he sits in stock and is eligible for discounts.

People might be holding off for the real IG droid.

I mean sure some of us might think that, but realistically.. we see it for all of what? Ten seconds, tops? That and honestly it’s essentially the same thing. You can pretty much have him as your stand in for IG-88.

I have both IG-11 and IG-88 and they aren't even close to the same. Design differences aside IG-11 is a much nicer figure.

I think HT overproduced IG-11. Pretty sure he was actually sold out for a hot minute on Sideshow which caused some momentary panic. They must have made too many in a second batch. This is one of many reasons why it's healthy for collecting to have a lively secondary market that sell for higher prices after sellout.

I too have them both and IG-11 is for sure the superior figure BUT there's also a few years between them and on the shelf, next to the HT Boba Fett, IG-88 holds his own, IMO.

I definitely like the Sideshow IG-88 and all their bounty hunters for that matter. The only one I don't have is Boba Fett because I have the HT. The crazy thing with IG-88 is that Sideshow did a V2 and the V1 is actually significantly better. Plus the V1 came with the really cool base.

I’m not saying there’s no difference between the two, but they’re fairly close. I still don’t think there’s much of a market for the ESB Bounty Hunters aside from being done in small runs like Sideshow did.

Hot Toys may give collectors a couple weeks break and make that second wave hit during Celebration. Lets give MCU fans some fun with a few Doctor Strange MOM reveals and PO while our wallets heal.
I think that will be the case. But no, not a few DS MOM releases, but many!! I need many Doctor Stranges!

Don't forget the Spider-Mans that were teased too.
Lets dont!!!!! There have been forty thousand MCU releases in the past six months, that bunch needs a break. So saith I.
Well that's Lucasfilm's problem. Come up with better content. You've seen what happened with Mando, like 25 releases lol.

Howard said he would do the bounty hunters if they were in new content. Good job on including them in BoBF!

The real muscle behind Boba Fett...

Lets not forget, in Kathleen Kennedy's Lucasfilm the rebellion's military is led by a Karen with purple hair.
