Agreed, i had to spend hours going through packed boxes to find mine( due to a move).
Please tell me it wasn't for nothing, cause the eye colour in the pics above looks just as bad?!
Edit:
I assumed mine was the same as wor gars (got at same time), but turns out after opening the box
it seems i never took him out to examine really close...
Fool of a took i am- turns out mine has blue eyes and blushed skin after all!
After comparing the pics however, the new eye colour looks dreadful!
I would still be as upset as wor gar if i had gotten those...what a difference.

new one- where's the Blue?! and what up with the top of the hair?

As mentioned by Asmus, they toned down the blue. So it's not the same blue to begin with.
I also assum that the yellow light of the shooting made them look green (blue + yellow = green).
So please Asmus, show us the headsculpt under white light or natural daylight.

I would note that my head, besides the strange green-brown eyes, also has very thinly painted hair -- you can see the cast beneath the paint in places -- and also a totally pale complexion that looks unpainted. As said by FlyAndFight, it looks like the Shelob's Bite version.

At least the new head seems to have darker hair and more a more healthy pallor. But those dark eyes really diminish the bright, wide-eyed look to innocent Frodo. Give me back the Barbie eyes if you must...

i swear i'm not smoking anything... but i made a mistake with the above photos...they are from version one.
My version two IS like Wors- the Shelob's Bite version.

It does appear that each new version paint job is not as good as the one before?
Looks like i will be sending in my email as well. :(
can we get v3 with v1 eyes?

Wor-gar, can you publish what headsculpt we should be getting when we send that email in? It's been a long while since we've had this discussion, and I don't feel like mining several pages of this thread for a pic (besides, it'll be nice to have it in a more recent post). It'll be nice to know what heasdsculpt we'd all like Asmus to provide us when the dust has settled.

Received my Frodo today and I can confirm that the eyes are indeed blue, although it's more of a dull grayish blue and from a distance they still pretty much read as brown and darker than they probably should be.

The bigger concern for me though is the vest. I was expecting it to be that slightly reddish-orange brown we see in the promo pics and on the previous release, but for some reason the vest on mine is the exact same brown as the pants. Which means there's no color variation in the outfit at all until you put the green cloak on. I'm not sure if they're all like this or if Ekia just got a bad batch, but it's a bummer either way and means I'll probably have to dye the dang vest now. :(

The figure looks really good otherwise though. The likeness is fantastic and he's got a healthy looking skin tone, so no issue there.

Oh and my box was also missing the stand, even though it was promised in the promo pics, so I had to temporarily borrow Galadriel's instead. Sigh.

My original releases Frodo definitely has a different colour to the vest and jacket from the pants. The vest and jacket are more reddish whereas the pants are dark brown.

Those new eyes definitely look brown from a distance... but then up close you have to wonder why they dropped their original paint scheme. The eyes just look terrible.

And now the vest issue. Despite the horrible paint on my old Frodo head, at least the vest is a different color from the pants. My pants are brown, vest is a brick red, and the jacket is somewhere in-between (brown maroon).

Dave: is your cape blue or green in hand? Your picture makes it look too blue.

Well, I guess bluish grey is better than my green and brown... but it frustrates me that after three years of waiting for them to go back to the original eye paint, instead, they have reissued the similarly poor eyes. At least the healthy skin tone is back.

As to the vest, that is a strange change. The original pictures Asmus had up did show a vest that was the same color as the jacket lapels (and pants)... but the even newer pictures with the corrected eyes now show a clear color difference. Its like the eye color all over again but now with the clothing colors.

Perhaps your vest was not dyed correctly. You should contact them and send pictures.

I was one of the people which bought original v1 frodo... After that I bought the expansion set, ordered and paid BEFORE ASMUS put the first slim batch in preorder and waited many months after slim frodo was sold everywhere to receive the green eyed replacement head... So I paid more (v1+expansion set), paid first and received the worst paint job... My solution? I found a Blu eyed frodo on ebay and sold my green eyed one... And after 4 years it seems that I have taken the right decision...

My story. But I did not buy and sell, I still hope for an exchange. :)

Thanks for the pictures @davejames!
They really should have kept the original blue eyes.
And they definitely must address the vest color issue.

But overall a great looking figure with very good likeness!

Edit: wow, new batch sold out already...

Maybe the green-eyed, brown vest version sold out.... now put up the blue-eyed, rust vest version.

I wonder why they changed their specs... I never heard anyone complain about Frodo's blue eyes. But people have complained for years now about the current style they are using. Is the original way too expensive now or something?

Exactly. I never heard any complaints about the eye color of the original Frodo. The complaints were with the sculpt, which they did change. I didn't think there was a huge outcry from collectors to tone down the blue. Not sure why they changed it -- and, after all the complaining about the green/brown/gray eyes -- I can't figure out why they wouldn't just switch it back.

Every photo of him has no yellow flecks or pigment, it is all very deep rich blue coloration.
