Just out of curiosity, how did you find the customizers who painted other sculpts for you?

I've tried asking in a few different places and the only feedback I've gotten was "check Instagram", which doesn't really help much. Would love to know who you used, what kind of job they did and where you found them, if it's not too much trouble to ask.

Back then, there were a bunch of customizers on these boards. We're talking probably eight or ten years ago. Maybe longer. The customizing community was a LOT more vibrant and active back then. There were people putting together all sorts of projects back then and offering their sculpting, tailoring and painting services. I was lucky enough to have Nathan Eakins (SilentSurfer) paint half a dozen sculpts for me back then. I'm not sure he still does it anymore, but he was fantastic. (Very pricey, too. Worth it, but pricey.) He's not on these boards anymore, I don't think. I'm not sure how I'd even go about finding someone to do it today. (I'm not on Instagram or Facebook.) So maybe I'm not the person to ask.

... if I could find a fault with Asmus it is sometimes they promise something and then don't come through on it. I would rather be told sorry, it is what it is, and deal with it than sorry, we know this isn't right and we are going to fix it free of charge, and then not follow through.

Agree.
I’m still waiting on
-replacement bodies for my 5 floppy Nazgul
-replacement head for original GTW
-replacement head for original GTG
-replacement head for green-eyed Frodo
-completion of the “build an Orc” figure

And probably something else I?ve forgotten. :impatient:

This was never promised. Only that we can buy a separate head to update, like it was with hobbits. Asmus said there will be 50-100 heads to buy, and it will be posted here on forum for members to get ready first, before public announcement.
So, in this case they did keep their promise. The only thing is to buy this head before it is sold out, and it is going to be pretty fast.

I look forward to the hobbit rereleases. Hopefully Sam, Merry, and Pippin all get redos on their sculpt. But, with that, I'd honestly rather have Merry and Pippin in their armors.

Maybe make them a standard and limited deluxe release. The deluxe could have the hobbit in the original outfit with all the existing accessories plus the knife from knife from Weathertop and also the hobbit in armor. The standard could simply be the armored release.

It is understandable that Asmus needs to re-release the main characters from time to time, in order to continue bringing in new collectors.

I like your idea, superdoug. This would allow everyone to obtain them and not force those that already have the "Fellowship" outfits to have to double-dip.

:goodpost: I love this idea! :clap

Id definitely buy Pippin in Gondorian armour and Merry in Rohan Armour then add Frodo and Sam in Orc Armour and I'm good.
Some of my fav pieces from the ToyBiz line were those releases.

Uh, no, wrong, they DID promise a replacement head to upgrade the first Hobbit-branded GTG.
Read my post again, I never said they promised a FREE replacement, just that they promised to provide a replacement head for purchase so collectors could upgrade the previous version.
And until they actual produce the heads and offer them for sale, it’s still just an unfulfilled promise, like all the others.

Well. Ok, no free. But considering there is nothing happening on GtW head, and silence on Frodo head. The GtG situation is confirmed to be available. And new DX head is a major update. So, do not be too literal too.
It's going to be available in the next few months, that was confirmed recently and many times in different threads. Not so on the other points you've mentioned.

I noticed what appears to be a possible "Slim Frodo 2.0" release. Is this correct, Asmus?

"Upgrade Expansion vol. 2"

View attachment 513977

This was over at Ekia but the Asmus site now has Frodo, Sam, Eomer, Theoden and Elrond available for sale, as well. I thought I saw them as "out of stock" just a few days ago. (or was I mistaken?...)

Looks like Asmus is simply reissuing its past figures for some easy money.

I would love some clarity on whether this is at last the long promised Frodo upgrade head...

George, Rovi - please can you inform us on this latest upgrade vol. 2 Frodo head?

Well mine just shipped from Ekia so I'll be curious to see how it looks. The only thing I'm a little iffy on from the pics is the sculpted hair, but it might be something I can live with.

Where this "upgrade vol 2 Frodo Head" come from"? I wasn't able to find it on asmus store...

Definitely curious if this is a true upgrade 2.0 or simply the head that should have come with the figure originally.

Hi all, this time the Frodo LOTR014S and Sam LOTR015S we posted on official website are restocked figures, just to satisfy some of our fans who missed the previous batch to purchase them. Thank you for your attention about theses characters.

Thank you for clearing it up for us. Are there any plans to upgrade them in the future? I know we have heard in the past that Frodo may get an update at some point. Is that still the plan?
