So is Frodo due to be rereleased soon? I noticed Ekia Hobbies has it for preorder with an expected release date of 3/1/2021, but I don't see the figure anywhere else, so not sure how legit that is...

I'm absolutely loving the revised sculpt so was hoping to pick one up to pair with Gandalf.

Interesting ...

First I'm hearing about a new sculpt, but I seem to remember them saying they were planning to do new runs of some of the sold out figures so that they keep up with demand.

Just checked out the Ekia site. Definitely a new sculpt. Definitely an improvement on their previous two efforts. If this turns out to be new ... I might need to upgrade ...

You referring to this one?

Looks like it might be a restock of the Slim V2 ? That was released awhile back.

Hmm. It looks different than what I've got on my shelf. I have the very first original sculpt and then the updated head they offered later. Which I though was the same as the slim but maybe it isn't?

Although, maybe it's the paint job that's throwing off my eye. Mine does have the dark gray eyes, after all.

Ok I figured it was an older release. I know Asmus said earlier in the thread that they would continue making the hobbits, but I'm guessing if anything was actually arriving soon it would be on their website as well.

The expansion ended up having a pretty poor paint app with the Slim version having a better paint app. Screenshot_20210311-163734_Instagram.jpgScreenshot_20210311-163745_Instagram.jpg

They definitely should keep making more. Might as well make use of that Hobbit body.

Ahhhhhh!!!!

Don't remind me of the atrocity! And the forever promise that it will be replaced.

There are people that are now old timers on this forum that can't even remember this debacle. That's how long this drama has been. My one great disappointment with Asmus.

Never forget.

Indeed! That's what makes me a little skeptical about them releasing the Crown Gandalf head separately. But I still hope they do since I'd like a second to replace my V1 head. Just not holding my breath.

True. This head replacement situation has dragged on and on and on ... (don't get me started on the GtW situation) ... but ... they DID upgrade the heads for Merry, Pippin, Frodo v1, Sam v1 and Aragorn. So they're batting ... what ... 5 for 8 so far?

(And yes, I realize those weren't "free" replacements, but I don't mind paying for upgrades. No other company in this game would even acknowledge when collectors ask for more.)

I would be happy if they rerelease the hobbits I need at least Frodo and Sam to help complete the LOTR collection.

I've slowly come to decide how I want my middle Earth detolf to one day be. I need Frodo to get back into circulation though.

Cube 1 would be Gandalf, Frodo, and probably Arwen because that's the only place for her to fit in.

Cube 2 would be Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli kitted out for Helm's Deep.

Cube 3 is a mystery. I'd like to not duplicate any characters, but I feel hard pressed to not as I think of what embodies ROTK.

Fourth cube will not be the cluster**** that is the Hobbit, but rather be a nod to what the trilogy could have been. And a nice way to display Thorin and Bilbo since they're so great.

Hmm, I was considering giving the Hobbit movies another try after the 4K LOTR made me fall in love with that trilogy again. But maybe I'm better off just staying away? I don't think I even bothered seeing the third film before as I completely lost interest by then. :p

Watch one of the fan edits instead. The Maple Films version is excellent and chops out as much junk as they can so it's closer to the book. They even colour graded it so it looks a bit more like LOTR.

That is a cool idea of having just a couple of figures to represent each film. BUT... I would be going nuts if I didn't have at the very least, the complete fellowship of the ring represented. Thanks to Asmus, I've got that (and signficantly more...) :wink1:

If Asmus revisits the entire crew, I think I would be hard pressed to not grab each release with the improvements they've offered. I still regret not getting a Strider at some point, bit the Helm's Deep Aragorn is a good consolidation prize.

That being said, aside from Boromir (barring they do an Osgilioth armor variant), you potentially could get the whole fellowship as depicted across all three films.

Two releases I'd really like to see are Merry and Pippin in their respective Rohan and Gondor armors.
