Hot Toys really need to surprise us this week with a follow-up preorder release for a Lobot ! [emoji23]

It would be great if hot toys did an almost crowd fund/haslab type release. I would totally buy lobot or bespin guards that casual fans wouldn?t care about. Then we could get the background characters we want that hot toys wouldn?t generally touch. Howard, there is money to be made.

"Small runs" never justify the production cost in terms of business perspective. There are numerous benefits from the economies of large-scale production, those who have been working in the manufacturing industry will be extremely familiar with this concept.

Unless collectors are willing to pay a hefty price for these "small runs", I would say 1.5 or even double the average retail price from Hot Toys. For instance, I just bought a $700 1/6 samurai figure Dante from this Chinese studio with worldwide edition limited to only 300 figs. But if you go to BBST and type COO model samurai, the standard cost for these mass-produced figures are just roughly $300 at maximum.

Yeah not sure you can compare the scale of what Hasbro does vs what HT does.

The reality is, people just had no idea how good they had it when Sideshow was making figs like hammerhead, Greedo, and Gamorrean for not much over $100. Greedo was in fact LESS than $100. Sadly those days are forever gone.

I always wonder how many people would buy a $250-270 Walrusman (who yes, wears a vaguely similar outfit to Luke Snowspeeder, which was priced at around $270 in 2020.) HT Jawa maybe was a preview of what's to come: questionable quality priced far too high.

Ah, I thought so. I thought maybe you saw something in the corner or background of one of the Lando pics that showed a blown-apart 3PO.

Interestingly, next month it will be TWO YEARS since Han Bespin was "implicitly teased."

When it comes to HT, implicitly teased is about as good as "unknown."

When it comes to HT, implicitly teased is about as good as "unknown."

Sometimes they preview beautiful and complete prototypes with everything but the price tag on them and they disappear(DST). Sometimes they preview them multiple times, they even appear on Sideshow's coming soon page(Millennium Falcon) and yep, into the abyss they go.

Bespin Han is as close to a sure thing as it gets when it comes to Hot Toys releases. This does not need hype to drive sales so they are not in a hurry but I think they will need to drop it soon if it's going with the 40th anniversary collection. I think we will start seeing Mando S2 figures starting October. Those will ride the hype train so they will have priority over Bespin Han for the rest of 2020.

I guess there's no set rule that all 40th anniversary ESB figures need to be shown and put up for pre-order this year.

Sure it makes sense, but there's nothing stopping them doing a couple next year and slapping the label on it. Who's really going to care in 2022 or 2023 when we actually get the figures ?

Either way I just hope they keep going with OT. It'd be a travesty if they stopped. What would I do with my life ?

I'm certain logistics, especially now, have been the main determining factor on what gets PO'd this year for ESB. For all we know, they are done. Or maybe one or two more might be revealed. But who knows if they will get a PO before end of year.

I'd love more ESB, but HT seems to be open to reissue now more than ever, so that cuts into new figures. And something like Hoth Rebel is just so unlikely. So after Bespin Luke and Bespin Han, what is really left that HT would do? Reissue Yoda and reissue Hoth Leia would be my guess rather than give us something new.

I can't see them making any b-listers regardless of popularity. Even Lando was kind of a peg warmer over the years in other toy lines despite being a fan favorite.

I can see maybe bespin chewie with 3p0 parts? Hoth luke or Han? Almost no one that isn't a main character I don't think.

Yep, I think those are the only possible releases from esb. Maybe rerelease the regular snow trooper. Other than that, I would love hoth rebel troops and bespin guards, but probably zero chance. Plus, hot toys knows they can spread that list out over a few years, so I?m not expecting anything. Bespin han would make sense before the end of the year. He will drive sales of lando for people who are on the fence and maybe they squeeze us with bespin escape leia. Not likely. The next few months will be interesting with mando season 2. The series was made for hot toys. Aside from the child, not one head sculpt in the season 1 releases. Hopefully esb han and Chewbacca can sneak in this year and get Released in 2027.
