Yeah the Oct- Nov date for reissued K/S was way too optimistic- I'm thinking Feb-Mar now more realistic

I definitely believe it's a case of now or never for TOS releases. The fanbase for a 50-plus year old show can only diminish over time. If QMX fails to deliver the entire main cast with this current series, then it's game over. No one is going to make another attempt again, and we will have to have an incomplete crew for the rest of time.

Considering the only real difference between figures is the headsculpt (much of the uniforms are identical) it's a mystery why the release schedule has been so patchy. A more consistent timetable would have instilled more confidence from buyers. Releasing Khan when they did, probably damaged the line in the long run, as he was something of an abnormality, and subsequently, a slow seller.

I left them a rather lengthy post when they asked for feedback re: posting spoilers on their facebook page a couple of days ago. It referenced their lack of communication etc too. Yet to receive a response, but if they want to turn things around they really should be responding to requests people make with truthful information.

e.g. if they said we're booking factory time for Sulu in March would I be super happy? No. But it'd be better than radio silence and them running their usual insulting "stay tuned to our socials!" message any time someone asks for a reasonable status update such as, oh, I don't know, "where's my Sulu I paid for in March/April?".

Sean Dabbs showed off the Seven of Nine sculpt done for QMX. Would be a shame not to see that go into production.

There seems to be a lack of balance between too much and too little info in the 1/6 world, mostly with an emphasis on a lack of info. IMO, 1/6 companies would be better off with scheduled quarterly updates that reassure people that have preordered their products and update production schedules and don't cause panic at every single sentence uttered.

I think what scares people is that QMX have a precedence of ?everything?s fine?, when they have no intention of releasing anything new. That was their approach with the Firefly brand after they promised Zoe and Jayne were coming ?very soon? for years. They have done the same with Sam Winchester, when they clearly have no intention of releasing new Supernatural figures.

I?m not really sure what the issue entirely is. This line has pretty much had stellar reviews across the board and has seemingly had very strong demand. If it?s not profitable enough, people would happily pay more for a shorter run of the less in-demand characters if they can deliver the same quality.

A rerelease of Kirk and Spock is a license to print money. If they don?t manage the roll-out correctly then it?s their own fault at this stage.

Plus they gave Planet Action Figures' allocation of Sulu to Sideshow, so a figure that was said to be so imminent we had to pay up front will now have been delayed for a year if we ever see him.

I've always liked the Seasons 1 & 2 TNG uniform, and wanted a companion figure for Picard, so I commissioned a 1/6th scale tailor to make me one. Looks nice, but I need to find a different figure body to fit the uniform better, as well as make height adjustments to match the original QMx Picard. So far so good...

I don’t know why, but it never occurred to me till seeing your pics that I could just remove Picard’s neck to get rid of that awful staining...
I have three of them, and it looks like I will be dremelling off those horrid stained necks.
That costume is amazing. Well done to your tailor.

I got lucky on my QMx Picard because all of the neck staining happens well below the mandarin collar. The extra Picard I picked-up had really bad staining up to the jawline. I used a Hyper Tough 1.5-Amp Rotary Tool kit I got at Walmart for $16. It has a cord, which I prefer -- and it does a great job. You HAVE to use a rotary tool to do the job as there's a lot of refinement needed to remove enough resin material inside the head to get it to fit on the new body neck. My final result is not perfect, but acceptable. I reused the rank pips and comm badge and kept all of the accessories of course.

I'm also going to transfer the magnets inside the QMx uniform to the custom outfit so I can attach the phaser and tricorder. Geewhiz Customs is the tailor I used. They do great work. You have to pay them in full upon commission, and it took them 4 months to get to my order to make the uniform. Patience is needed, but the results are satisfying.

Thats great news. I already like the QMX uniform and I am very happy with the head sculpt. It was just the stains I was upset about. I have three of them and they all have those horrid marks on them.
But as for the dremel work, I do know what’s involved. I have done that on loads of necked sculpts myself to fit them to bodies with necks. I just had a real “Doh!” moment when I realised I could have done that with my Picard figures!

I of course also love my original QMx Picard by Nanjin and his creative team -- it's great. Waiting around for QMx to produce Data, Geordi, Riker, etc. seems unlikely now, so the earlier TNG uniform idea was a good compromise -- just so that Picard is not alone. This was my first ever attempt at dremelling the neck off and hollowing it out. Finesse is key and I may still need to make the "rim" of his neck base thinner so it sits more flush with the neck, but it isn't obvious as long as I don't look for it from the back. It was a fun project. Sounds like you have a lot of experience with the neck removal procedure. How close to the jawline do you usually go? I did the usual straight across the base of skull of Picard's anterior hairline adjust below ears, then an abrupt downward slope while hugging the jawline left going under the chin with a curve. I took too much from under his chin though, as it does not sit flush on the current neck. I'm hoping the second figure I try out will fix some of these fitment issues, as well as not make Picard look like an overly muscular version of himself. This hobby can get obsessive at times!
