Yeah, doesn't that sound weird? I mean, is it a true review if you have a financial stake in the company?
I already know the answer to that, it's not a good thing. It's not a review at that point, it's an ad. Don't call it a review, call it an unboxing.

And the video was posted on Sideshow's YouTube. So yeah, at least have the decency to show SOME impartiality.
That's what I thought the John Wick thing was, an unboxing. Sideshow giving an affiliate with a reasonably large youtube following some exposure. Are you guys saying he's a paid employee of Sideshow?

If he is, there should be a disclaimer.
It's just weird that he posted a video and it was on Sideshow's YouTube. If it was done to promote his brand, wouldn't he link all of his stuff in the video?
I'm baffled by this decision.
He's probably not on the payroll but he is an affiliate and gets a commission based on who buys figures through his links. Most other companies require affiliates to state that they are affiliates and get a small cut from purchases, however, the few people I know that Sideshow uses, does not. Plus he is constantly getting free stuff to push or rather "review."
Well, the name of his youtube channel is John Deak, so any exposure he gets also promotes his channel.
I don't know the guy, but I haven't seen any evidence that he actually works for Sideshow. Seems like he considers himself an "influencer", and likes to throw his weight around, sometimes flanked by lawyers.
Yea he's the worst kind of influencer...just wants power and doesn't really want to promote the industry. **** that guy.

If they gave out several to people for review like normal companies do I'd believe it a little more that he's not involved. But he got the JW figure like 2 weeks before it was even released in HK? Like he's the first in the world to review it?
Ok, I just watched some of that video by the Zachary guy, and no offense, hes' an idiot.
You make a video defending your girl Susan, cause supposedly this guy is claiming he is getting threats cause of Susan.
So what does the boyfriend do? He makes a video defending his girl saying this is not true, aaaaaaaannndddd....

Good lord - they really have scrubbed the comments. Not just anything about Susan, but anything remotely critical of Deak. That's crazy. I never wasted my time moderating YT comments when I ran channels, and told my employees the same. It's a losing battle and makes you look ridiculous.

I agree that it probably wasn't a smart move. But it also doesn't take a genius to realize what a ****** bag Jon Deak is. And it seems clear that Susan did not deserve to be fired for whatever Deak accused her of. The real culprit should not be lost in the shuffle because of a poorly made reaction video.
