Re: The Apple Tablet

They do when you run too much stuff on them. I have Maya, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, Word, Visual Hub, Web Wrangler, Komodo, etc, all on my machine. They are the fully licensed versions. Of course via school, but they can bring any machine down. :D

But it does take a lot to make a Mac freeze and give you the evil beachball. You abuse anything enough, it will falter.

my typical day at work consists of running, Browser, Email, Photoshop, Bridge, Acrobat, Illustrator, Strata 3D & iTunes all at the same time and I rarely have trouble.

Running all of those right now actually .... :monkey1

Re: The Apple Tablet

I had a Mac for about a year and sold it. What's the big deal? :huh Sure it worked fine but so does my PC and it's much cheaper. :monkey3

For me it's about being able to run mainstream productivity programs on a commercially supported Unix-based OS. For others it could be about stability. Others still, it could be that they are pretty. There's lot's of different reasons for different people.

Well the big deal (coming from a PC user only) is that 99% of my industry uses Macs. Cost wise between paying for antivirus, repairs costs and worrying about getting a virus anyway and loosing everything you have in the computer sums up enough $ to buy a Mac. thats how im looking at it and thats why im changing.

I got my Mac about a year ago and it works just as good today as it did when I opened the box. And that's with ZERO maintenance.

Same here, in Education almost everything runs off Macs anymore just because of the sheer amount of integrated software. Macs are the tortise, PC has become the hare.

That's why I got into MAC, when I started design school, that's what I was told I'd be taught on, got a MAC for school, and came to love the way it works. To me, the MAC OS offeres a more user friendly environment to work in and allows for a smoother work flow.

I've used the same graphics programs on PC and MAC between my job and personal uses and I just work much smoother in MAC.

I also love that if there are any problems with a MAC, diagnosis is pretty easy, where with PCs, with viruses, trojans, worms and all the other possible things that could screw it up, you can spend hours, days even, trying to diagnose what's wrong with your system, sometimes not even being able to come up with an answer and having to spend great sums to get pros to look at it, or just throw in the towel and replace the system.

I'm on my 3rd MAC and haven't lost one to anything other than age, which is what happens with any electronic equipment, they're not made to last forever, and plus eventually they become outdate. I was on G5 prior and everything is really being geared toward Intel MACS so the upgrade was needed.

Re: The Apple Tablet

i have both, and they're both worth it. it really depends what you'll be using them for...

i'd say either will work for ya. :rock

For now just basic stuff but i'm hoping later on to do some movie stuff on it.

a laptop!!!

IRONFINGAZ! Sumba papo! im getting a laptop cause i need to take it everywhere i go!! :rock

I am leaning more towards a laptop since it will also be in my room. This way i won't have to find a perminant spot for a iMac. And i can take it with me where ever i go.

Fingaz do you have an apple store over there in India? If you do I would recommend going and talking to them. They will show you all around and help you pick out something that is right for you. They won't try to sell you a computer you won't need. They will however try to sell you a bunch of service plans which I declined 2 or 3 times. :lol

The Apple Care plan can prove to be worth every penny. I had 2 super drives die on me, but because I had the plan, I got them both replaced 100% free, as well as having a monitor die and be repaired completely on their dime.

It's like insurance, you may spend a lot for nothing, but there may also come a time you tap into it for far more than you put in. I know all the things I got taken care of under the plan cost more than I paid to have the coverage.

I don't recommend getting any serious Apply tech without that plan.

I just bought the most basic Imac I could. I really didn't see the value in the service plan. The computer cost $1199 and I got a discount that brought it down to $1015. Their service plans totalled about $300 to $400 if I recall. I don't think its foolish to not take a service plan that is almost 50% of the actual item price. :dunno But that's just me.

Applecare is pretty great. It's consistently ranked highest in support year after year. You get pretty much unlimited support for 3 years for $100 (is that still the price?), not bad at all. iirc, the first year is included with the purchase of a computer, and you have that entire time to decide to purchase the extended plan.

Stop surfing porn sites. :lecture :monkey5

So did/does my PC, that's why eventually I got rid of the Mac. Plus, the Mac holds it's value. I only lost $50 after selling the Mac (I bought it used), try selling a PC a year after you've had it. It's worth nothing.

STFU FRANK!!!!!!

Can't help it, I like being a ____ disturber. :monkey3 :D

The original reason I got a Mac was because my original PC was crap. Well my existing one probably is too but I've had a lot less problems ever since I stopped letting anyone else use my PC. Also, I don't run any virus software on my PC and I don't have any problem since I monitor everything myself. It runs much better without the AntiVirus software.

It's an houre drive but yes we do. That's were i'm going when i'm ready to buy one. And after i've bought one, to celebrate, i'm gonna stop by this joint that make a mean rice and curry :rock

Re: The Apple Tablet

Just checked the online Apple store, looks like Applecare prices have gone up. $250 for a laptop? :monkey2 $170 for an iMac? :monkey4

I liked it better when it was $100. Still, the service is great, and I would still recommend it to somebody who isn't all that technically adept.
