worried about that seam... I hope it does not make it to the production piece.

They said it would not be there when asked. it's just on the prototype. Have to wait for final shots on all of these to see which one is the best in certain areas.

The Star Wars scholar strikes again. :clap

I just wish there was a permanent option to have it wired up for power, a bit more inconspicuous than in these pictures of course.

I haven't tried my lights in a while, but 3PO's batteries lasted an age. Hopefully this'll be the same. Sideshow R2's battery life was poor.

Just a few bits of additional info to clarify a few more things. The rivets on the protoype are painted and that's why they appear inconspicuous now. Two AAA batteries are used to power the LED lights and sounds and they last a lot longer than the C-3PO, which, as @Lejuan noted lasted a long time. The legs and ankles are on wratchet joints to support the body weight when leaned forward / back or in tripedal mode. Parts of the prototype were hand painted and they's why the look a bit sloppy. They're not indicative of what the final piece will look like. Finally, @anwe the Tamashii team wired the soundchip to a board that connected to a speaker (hence the wire in the photos), so I'm sure you can hook this up to a power source if you're handy.

Very cool to have a company representative here in the threads to give us pics and info.... Hopefully you stick around and ignore the inevitable rude posts. Most people appreciate the time and effort to come on here. Thanks for all the info and look forward to seeing more.

It's looking very nice and the scale looks great, and i'm glad it's going to have the larger AAA batteries for the lights/sounds...but for me they've really dropped the ball by going with a plastic dome and not metal...

I already have the Tam C3PO and the look and quality is fantastic. Really love the weight and feel of a die-cast figure. I have no doubt R2 will be just as nice. Already pre-ordered and looking forward to R2's release.

Who is the company rep here? Must have missed it.

R2 has really come together nicely. The paint app looks really good and the seam on the dome doesn't look visible anymore. Really excited about this little guy.

Very nice. Does anyone know which stores in the US have this little fellow available for pre-order?
