Supernatural Dean Winchester review

Sorry, I was out of town last weekend and missed my Sunday night review. Let's make up for it tonight with a look at a sixth scale figure that's *almost* out - Dean Winchester from Supernatural! Qmx picked up the license awhile back and Dean is the first of several planned characters. There's some nits to pick with the portrait, but the costume, articulation, and accessories are top notch. The clothing has always been nice. The fact that they didn't care enough about the fans comments on the head sculpt is annoying.

Honestly I find this one massively disappointing. The sculpt lost some of the Dean-ness from the original proto, the weapon accessories all seem to be incorrectly scaled, being either too big or too small, compared to the weapons they are based on, the paint looks rather flat and dull and dead-eyed, and I can't agree with the hair looking good, either, as to me it looks like someone has tipped a bowl of spaghetti on his head.

It may not, technically, be any worse than mediocre, truth be told, but even so it is still the most disappointing release of the year so far for me, personally. Still, saved me starting another line, I guess...

I see this guy’s face way too much thanks to my wife’s love affair with Supernatural. Can’t say it’s a good sculpt.

I think the eyes need to be bigger and the nose smaller. If they had done that, it would have been pretty close.
