I am going to go see this movie next wed or thur. And pumped for Star Trek: Discovery. Trek was always better as a series
The Khan comic book explains why he appears Caucasian. But I reckon the alternate timeline should have been explanation enough.

I've been hearing good things about this.
The flick was good. Best overall of the reboots. My main nitpick on it and the other 2 is there is no chemistry or friendship felt between Kirk and Spock. That is the meat and potatoes of Star Trek. It's at least there for Spock and McCoy though. The white/black stripe faced chick was pretty kewl in it.
The Enterprise also takes 30 minutes to destroy and only 20 seconds to build!
Spoiler:With both Kirk and Spock contemplating leaving Star Fleet, then deciding not to, I think you'll see more chemistry between them in #4, especially if they get someone other than Pegg to write it.
Saw it to today and really enjoyed it. It was a everything you want in a summer movie. Action , thrills. and laughs with a pretty straightforward plot. STB has gone back to it's original TV roots. (and I mean that in a good way.), really giving the great cast a chance to play against one another ( Loved the McCoy and Spock interactions). also I 'm really hoping Sofia Boutella becomes a permanent part of the cast. Her character Jaylah was a real standout. and I want to see more of her in this Star Trek universe.

Spoiler:A few issues I have is how they defeated Krall with music, pretty damn stupid but at least the sequence was fun and exciting if you don't think too much about it. Also, why couldn't they have used the transporter at the end there with either sending Krall and his super weapon out into space, sending the super weapon once it was activated out into space, or rescuing Kirk? Seemed the easiest thing to do.
And why are the only Prime aliens to appear in this are the Vulcans and the Orions. Why no Andorians, Tellarites, Gorn, Suliban, Xindi or any other alien that has appeared in the prime universe before Next Gen? I would've loved to have seen a Edosian finally brought to life! I liked the aliens they did have, but we need more of the original ones brought into the Abrams universe.
Is that who that is!
