Pineapple Express: 6/10

It had some pretty funny moments, and decent performances, but overall an average comedy.

Breaking Bad
The Wire
I can't judge True Detective yet as I haven't seen it, but of the others those two are by far the best on your list IMO. Both are several seasons long and will take a while to get through, though.

Cool Uncanny Web-Slinger! Then I hope I can get some good recommendations from you in the future! Hopefully not all "I recommend you avoid......" Kidding!

I'm glad you guys enjoy your movies, but I think we are getting a tad heavy on handing out 8's, 9's and 10's.

Well these guys are giving out their own ratings, there is no baseline that everyone should follow. Personally, I never gave a 10, that would mean its a perfect film.

Amazing Spiderman 2 7/10 IMAX 3D was amazing. I loved the Electro scenes. Visually stunning. Spiderman has too much drama though. I think they could have gone in several directions with this film and I pretty much did not see it the way things turned out. Enjoyed it quite a bit.

Just saw The Raid 2 and it was amazing! The fight scenes just kept going from strength to strength leaving me breathless at the end of the movie. However, the story did jump around a little bit but in all honesty plot takes a backseat to the action in a movie like this. 9/10

The Good Doctor - 7/10

An interesting and unsettling movie. Basically a junior doctor falls for a patient and when she gets better he walks down a path to insanity by poisoning her to have her back in his life.

What's interesting is
she dies soon after

Not the a-typical thing to expect from a movie. After that he deals with a blackmailer over their relationship even though nothing really happened between them in a sexual sense.

The movie ends quit abruptly and suggests that this was a temporary insanity as he goes on with his life and career.

Wasn't an entertaining movie but more of an insight movie.

Robocop (2104)

I'm a hardcore fan of the original. Hated and despised the idea of the remake and felt insulted with the design of the suit. Watched the movie with low expectations and after half and hour or so quickly realized that it's doing it's own thing rather than trying to outdo or erase the original. So all in all, I can't believe I'm saying this, it's a GOOD movie.

7/10.

Yeah, I feel bad for spitting on the reboot because I hold the original so dear to me. Fact of the matter is, the reboot is the best thing to come out out of the Robocop name since the original spawned God awful sequels, cartoons, TV series, and even some crappy comics. I don't know how, but the reboot worked.

So yeah, I guess I have to eat crow on what I've said on the Robo boards.

Soooooo why exactly it's a good movie, beside that "it's different" bit?

It quickly deals with the fact that Murphy is a man trapped in a machine first, rather than a machine discovering he's a man like in the original. That different approach completely allowed me to let of go of any preconceptions and allow the plot to branch off.

Murphy wakes up as a man in this, while OCP desperately tries to make him a robot. I never knew that approach could ever work until now.

No memorable bad guys and a ton of stupid plot points ruined it for me. ED-209 looks ****, that Charles Kane criminal eluded police for 10 years but just shows up at a police station one day, and Murphy is in no way someone I can root for in this version. Even in the suit, Weller has tons of personality. What's his face in this new one was just like watching a dead fish. The plot also won't be remotely relevant in 20 years which is why I doubt it will hold up even to dvd/cable repeat viewing scrutiny. It definately strikes me as a movie that will only get worse with each new viewing.
