It's really tough to rank them! I'll include animated movies too.

1. The Dark Knight Returns
2. The Dark Knight
3. Batman Begins
4. Batman Mask of the Phantasm
5. Dark Knight Rises
6. Batman Year One
7. Batman Beyond Return of the Joker
8. Batman Under Red Hood
9. Sub Zero

1. The Dark Knight
2. Batman Begins
3. Batman Returns
4. Batman
5. The Dark Knight Rises

My list fluctuates, but only counting the theatrical releases during my lifetime:

1. The Dark Knight
2. The Dark Knight Rises
3. Batman Begins
4. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
5. Batman
6. Batman Forever
7. Batman Returns
8. Batman and Robin

I also loved the "Batman-versus-SWAT-in-abandoned-building/construction-site" trope when I first saw it on film in MOTP. (And years later when Nolan did it in TDK). I thought it was a pretty clever way to show Batman's resourcefulness when cornered...and then I read Year One and realized it was basically just a derivative of the Batman vs Branden's squad scene, except in Year One, Batman saves himself and in MOTP, unmasked, bloody Bruce Wayne gets rescued by his girlfriend. He was this close to getting busted if she didn't show up.

In all honesty, I try to refrain from posting things like these because, really, it proves nothing. On days when I feel like watching Begins, it'll probably rank highest, 89 the same, or TDK and TDKR. It really all depends on what sort of mood I'm in, so, my list varies from day to day. I will say this: if you are ranking the Batman films, and including stuff like Mask of the Phantasm, you're really doing a disservice to some of their other animated stuff by not listing them; Batman:The Dark Knight Returns is one of the best comic book films I've ever seen. Of course, I totally understand that it might be a "theatrical release only" type of thing.

I don't know; I've just never been good at lists like this. Sometimes animated films take my top spot, sometimes it's the Nolan Trilogy, and, other times, it's 89.my list would basically consist of every Batman movie that's not Batman & Robin or Batman Forever or Batman Returns being on equal footing, and then followed by Returns, Forever, and B&R.:lol

I don't like ranking either (only made these threads as a parody, I'm pretty sure there's already a "favorite Batman" thread somewhere).

For me, it depends on the mood. One day, I might be in _____ film mode, the next, _____ film mode. It just depends. "If I'm going to have a favorite Batman film, I prefer it to be multiple choice.

Exactly. Even the idea of "what's your favorite film" is such a broad and general question, it's like, if you're any sort of fan of film, chances are that you don't have a favorite.

Yeah, I've said it before, 89 and BB are always going to tie in top spot for me, then TDK, but you wanna throw the animated features in, it's going to get ugly, and my list could be different on any given day or I'm just going to list 5 way tie for #1. :lol
