As for the cloud thing - I've always had problems with a devourer of worlds as an anthropomorphic giant in a purple pope hat - so I had no problems with it.

But you never had any problems with an anthropomorphic man in blue and red tights or an anthropomorphic alien on a silver surfboard? Maybe Superman and the Silver Surfer should have been clouds too. ;)

Yes, some suspension of disbelief is necessary for almost any fantasy or science fiction, especially in movies and comic books. But Superman and Norin Radd started out as humanoid and don't brunch on the thermal and organic energy of planets. Why would a god-like being traveling through space look like a giant human?

Well form what I uinderstand Galactus looks like whatever planet he's eating, like the main race. He has no true form we know of (hence the cloud is semi-accurate) but to humans, he looks like a giant guy.

But still, here was a perfect chance to just blow people away with a giant guy, and we get a cloud. I think even if all he did was emerge for a few moments the wow factor would have been uped. Big clouds just don't impress me as much unless a big purpley blue guy is in them. Even if they changed his outfit, just to see something that big and intimidating (insert dirty joke here) on the screen would have been way cool. I felt cheated.

Dont you guys get! that the cloud is the Ship! its not Galactus!! its his means of transportation. Galactus is not in the movie! They saved him for the SS spinoff!

Yeah I picked that up. You see a quick shadow of him. Still lame, they should have given us a taste now, just a quick look. I would be more interested in a Silver Surfer movie if I got a quick glimpse, but that shadow of him in the fire sucked, and I don't even know if I'll go see a Surfer movie. It was a cop out I tells ya!

True! i agree!!! lame!!!! But i still think SS looked awesome!! and i dont mind watching his movie! that hopfully has nothing to do with earth!!!!

Silver Surfer did look cool, and it was better than 1, and since I saw it for free I'm not complaining too much, but over all I felt like it was less than what it should have been. They had a chance to take away Dooms lame powers, and didn't. They had a chance to do all sorts of spectacular crap and make it a semi-cool franchise, and just cheesed it up and coped out on us again. I do have way more nice things to say about it than 1, but that's not saying a whole lot.

He should have directed Daredevil. I thought his run was pretty decent.

Instead he got a small bit part in the movie...

Well, one problem is that Smith couldn't direct an action scene (or anything really highly visual) to save his life, and admits such.

If there's a third film does anyone else think it might involve an alliance between Dr Doom and Namor The Submariner.

Doom ended up getting flung into the ocean and at the end of the film Reed and Sue had to abandon their wedding because there was a report Venice was sinking into the Adriatic, maybe the Submariner is somehow responsible for that.

It would be a cool direction to take the franchise, you'd have a fresh love triangle between Namor, Sue and Reed. Doom and Namor (before he turned into a hero) would make a pretty powerful villain team and the special effects to create Atlantis would look cool.

What a great idea.I hope they take your idea and make it happen.

It might work, although Namor has never been a true villain. He is better described as an anti-hero. His goal has never really been power or "world domination" (at least, not in anything I've read that featured him). Usually, when he has gone up against the surface dwellers, it has been the result of perceived injustices committed against his kingdom.

I think that in order for it to work, Doom would have to somehow trick Namor into becoming angry enough to join forces with him and attack the surface.

No, he wasn't. Movie Doom is as far from DOOM as you can get...have you ever read any material with Doom? Doom would NEVER shout one-liners in battle.

Doom never shout out one-liners, are you serious? Now I admit that the original Dr. Doom, the one that Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created, is the one I like the best and he is WAY over the top.
Yes, original Doom yelled one-liners and I have the comics to prove it, but a lot of people seem to forget the source material.
Doom was perfect, plan and simple. But hey, since we have such Fantastic Four specialists who have read all of the material since the beginning then maybe they could write a better film then say Stan Lee.

I look at this film and see a tight, concise and very entertaining movie. But hey, you can't please everyone.

You know what would please me, if Doom sank to Atlantis and convinced Namor to attack the Fantastic Four. Lest we forget it happened in the comics, since everyone here read them.

I love when fanboys get into a hissy fit. It's so funny. hehe

But you have a point. Don't assume unless you really are aware of the source material. Otherwise you're just making an "ASS out of U and ME."

Did I really sound like a fanboy having a hissy fit?
I thought my voice had more of a Clark Gable quality.

But you get my drift. Sometimes I feel like the people who are complaining know nothing about the source material, all they know is how they would have done it or how they believe a character should be. They totally ignore were the character came from. Sometimes I think people should first say if they even like the characters they are complaining about.

Oops, sorry Eli26, another fanboy hissy fit.

By the way, how is the whole homosexual thing working out for you?

While not a villain, he did team up with Doom on several occasions in Marvel Super Villain Team Up series from the 70's.

Namor has teamed up with Dr. Doom on several occasions to fight the FF as well as forming an alliance with the Hulk to fight the Avengers right after Captain America joined the team.

Though he is considered an anti-hero/hero, Namor's background is far from clean.

Clark Gable quality... Richard Nixon on Bender's body - Futurama

Why do people take things so seriously? When I wasn't being serious. Relax. Have fun with it, which you did. Loved the Futurama reference! Best cartoon ever!

Anyway I sided with you, and as for how the homosexuality is working out.. you should know... we tossed in the sack for hours. I didn't get any sleep you wild steed!

Yes, he did. And even according to the site you linked, here is how it happened:

Instead of an epic of villainous world domination, SVTU gives readers a confusing dance between Doom and Namor. Doom constantly attempts to trick or blackmail Namor into becoming his ally without any indication of why the aquatic prince is at all important to him.

I never said (or meant to imply) that Namor's background was clean at all. I only meant to imply that his motives were different than Doom's, so Doom would need to concoct some kind of phony scenario to get him to team up. All else being equal, Namor wouldn't be any more likely to want to team up with Doom than he would be to want to team up with the FF.

I thought I was a noble steed. Who loves ya, baby?

Oh, and in reguards to the whole discussion over Namor, Robodad is right. Namor has only ever sided with villains out of necessity, not by choice. Namor's personality really doesn't add itself to the whole "hero" theme. His responsibility is to his people and his kingdom and Namor will do whatever he can to protect them.
Sometimes it's hard to be the king.
