I think HT got burned when they released the Bat from TDKR. Being 1/12 scale it didn't really belong anywhere. It ate up resources for it's development and was a poor seller, even for Bat fans. All other vehicles have since remained in limbo, unlikely to see the light of day. The Avenger's Helicarrier, this cockpit, Rey's speeder bike, the 66 and JL Batmobiles, even the Flying DeLorean (almost a reissue) all look like they're cancelled.

Sure wish they'd tell people this though.

The Bat was doomed to fail miserably......I mean just look at it.

I don't know what HT production costs would be but the Falcon cockpit they have shown would be a big enough seller in the Western world that it would at least be worth their time. Nonetheless it now seems unlikely to happen.

It’s ironic how HT seems to be very selective about the vehicles they make, but half the time, they select the wrong ones to make that don’t sell very well.

I decided to do my own Batmobile. Well had a good mate paint a $60 Mattel Multiverse Batmobile for me. Unfortunately not 1/6 scale but a fraction of the cost of what Hot Toys would have wanted for theirs......had they have ever made it.

Probably even looks better I'd say. It's still pretty big at 52cm x 30cm wide (20,5 inches x 12 inches wide). And my Justice League Hot Toys Figures can still stand next to it.

I posted loads of pics on this page,

When the cockpit was announced, it was around the same time they showed their 1/6 Falcon, a cargo hold diorama, Rey's speeder and a TIE fighter. At the time, Star Wars was riding high, thanks to the success of TFA and Rogue One. Since then, the wave has died down to a trickle and any future SW product suddenly has a big question mark hanging over it. Vehicles have always been a bit of a gamble, and with the current state of SW, it looks highly unlikely to see any released. OT and Prequel figures seem to be doing ok. I don't know if the same can be said for TLJ or Solo figures. Hasbro recently announced staff layoffs, largely as a result of unsold SW toys.

With the amount of companies out there, I'm surprised one of them can't specialise in Star Wars vehicles. Remember the good old days of MR.
Theres definitely a market for them, I'd snap up anything Star Wars in the vehicle range.
I'll just have to stick with my UCS Lego sets for now....

Toys R Us closed largely as a result of unsold SW toys

No. They closed in the US due to the massive debt accumulated as a result of the leveraged buyout by Vornado, and two private equity firms named KKR and Bain Capital. Of course, Disney Star Wars toy sales collapsing didn't help.

Toys R Us closed largely as a result of unsold SW toys, so Hasbro's sales dropped. It's the same thing.

No, Toys R Us closed because the investment group that purchased them saddled them with so much debt they couldn't get out from under it. This was the result of years of mismanagement, not the result of one season of poor-selling toys

That's what I said... :p

Yeah, I was doing some research before responding, and by the time I hit 'okay', you had gotten there ... oh well.

Couldn't find any reputable site linking poor-selling toys to TRU's demise. Any poor-selling toys would have effects industry-wide, not just TRU.

So I got my Hot Toys Falcon Cockpit today. Its a really nice display piece!

I'd advise any who are interested in this to pick it up if you can.

I got mine from Popculcha. The shipping cost was high of course, but I think it was well worth it.

Oh! Wait! Am I high AGAIN! Dammit!

Nevermind, disregard :gah:

Just opened mine too. Way to many inaccuracies. Will look to move it when V2 is announced to truly minimize payback.

Come on Hot toys!!
I am ready!!
with all the cash made from the Marvel figures, surely Howard.can spare some to go towards making the Cockpit.
I mean,a Delorean,a Batmobile were good to go...

Sorry for the necropost, but THIS is something I think most star wars Hot toys fans would go after and hopefully still not a missed opportunity....
