Yes - at least in Mark II and IV I've seen them pre-installed

Yeah. I'm pretty sure they started packing them separate when they started the diecast line.

It was about the time of the IM3 releases they finally started packing them separately. If you buy a MISB figure from earlier than that be prepared to clean the battery bays with some bicarbonate of soda and cotton buds...

Anyway, recently had mine out of the cabinet to dust off and inspect, still my favourite HT Iron Man figure by quite some distance. Great proportions and lines, really nice shade of red too.

Seen some killer deals on the old Mark VI now that the Diecast release is looming, very tempted to pick it up too. Don't actually like the proportions on the DC version very much, or the paintjob.

Details improve, skin tones get worse. Every character looks like they took a trip to the tanning booth nowadays.

Hopefully no permanent damage done....

There was no damage to the figure and this was in sealed box till current year I think.
