Thanks Motuxmen. The figure held out well, just only some paint fading detected on the rubber material area, which is the groin and neck piece.
I think it's mostly due to the humidity of my tropical location, since the figure is displayed away from sunlight.

I had some money I'd earmarked this month for picking up a Hot Toys Sandtrooper, then completely out of the blue I was presented with the opportunity to pick this figure up for the same price. The real kicker? It's still MISB and doesn't appear to have the pink panties issue either.

Needless to say Mark IV won, this thing has been my 1/6 Holy Grail for years. It's currently in transit. The only thing I'm worried about is the batteries having popped their tops inside the figure - if they have how do I go about cleaning the compartments and terminals out?

Make a paste with baking soda and water, dab it in there with q tips or toothpicks to saturate and pick away at the battery acid

I agree they'll probably make a diecast version but I wouldn't say it's pointless to pick up the older version (although maybe not at an insane mark up) being that when HT updates a figure its usually different from the first release in some way by not including certain accessories like the donut box extra headsculpt etc.

To be completely honest I'm not impressed with the Diecast figures. I own a few and since the Mk 42/Iron Patriot the weight and quantity of metal in each newly-designed figure has been going down with every subsequent release. Figures like Battle-Damaged Robocop, Starboost, Shotgun, etc have all demonstrated they can offer exactly the same level of articulation and engineering in an all-plastic figure. Effectively all the Diecast marque gets you is some cheap pot metal parts and a fancier box - if the Iron Man Mk III DC is anything to go by, it doesn't even guarantee improved engineering over a standard release - for an $80 markup.

On top of that, I paid about $225+shipping for this version. I doubt a DC release would offer any significant improvements for the $100+ price hike, and in light of the Mk III DC release, might actually be a worse figure. By the same token I actually much prefer the look of the original all-plastic War Machine Mk I to the recently-announced DC version.

You can try some isopropyl alcohol at the end of a Q-tip.

To be completely honest I'm not impressed with the Diecast figures. The dcmk3 is way better then the older plastic versions. It's not the same type of articulation used on the other figures but it's a neat feature for one figure..especially that figure. The mk3 is where the ground punch originated and most of the other suits never do it on screen. And they came up with w way to achieve that pose better then on any other figure. It also allowed for the mk3 construction suit.

I'm not a big diecast fan as I think it's mostly marketing. Everything you do with diecast can be done with plastic and be the same or better...except for weight. And personally I think it's silly to pay 30% extra for a feature that is utilized less then 1% of the time. If it was the same price I'd be fine with DC but it's not.

I love my mk4 and 6 figures. That said, an updated version (don't care if it's plastic or DC) would be nice. But there's no reason for them to not label it DC so if expect any updates to be that. Either way the price would remain pretty close to the same with DC or not. And the mk4 and 6 are older figures and your average collector is only around for 2-3 years so a big portion of the market wasn't around for the older releases.

You should know full well by now I'm not going agree with you on the Diecast Mk III. That thing is a travesty of a release compared to the previous DC figures - a nice-looking travesty, granted, but a travesty nonetheless. Hot Toys set a bar with the Mk 42, Iron Patriot, etc that then carried over into later standard releases like Starboost for articulation and engineering. Then, with the DC Mk III, delivered something somewhere between a PPS and an MMS figure with some metal bits in the legs.

When a $310 2015 release is overall less articulated and functional than a $180 2009 release, something has gone horribly wrong. In the past you've claimed that the lack of articulation makes it 'more accurate' to the prop suit (a lie), then gone on to defend the paint job as being 'accurate to the CGI model' - so which one is it, is this meant to be the prop suit with its wine red finish and gaping voids of green fabric around the joints, or is it meant to be the fully-articulated inside-and-out ILM CGI render?

The reality is every other Hot Toys Iron Man figure has struck some kind of balance between the physical artistry of the prop suits, the articulation and detail of the CGI models and excellent toy engineering. The DC Mk III, no matter how you try to spin it, didn't. It looks nice just standing there but if you want the option to actually pose these figures once in a while, it's a lousy release - something reflected in its tumbling aftermarket prices.

Very late to the party. Took a risk and brought this one recently, MIB piece. It had Pink Panties issue (known before purchase, stated by the seller). Saw a video from xenom0rph and followed the process - was able to eliminate to an extent I'm happy with.

Yes they were corroded. First thing I did was to remove them.

Yes - at least in Mark II and IV I've seen them pre-installed

Yeah. I'm pretty sure they started packing them separate when they started the diecast line.

I discovered HT and this forum about 2 years after the Mk7 released. After wanting to go back and pick-up figures such as this one, I ended up not doing it because I was too worried about issues like corrosion and pink panties.
