Hi Guys!

As a Sideshow Retailer, I thought I would share some information that I received from Sideshow regarding the paint issue yesterday:

"...I will need to get back to you on the Samurai Predator as I need to wait for more information. It sounds like all of them have the same coloring (as far as the Alien head accessory bring painted a different color than the rest of the alien body).

We are inspecting all replacements and currently checking with production to confirm whether they are all look this way; if the color is intentional (if they are in fact supposed to be this way) and if not, when we would be getting replacements, if any.

I should hear back within the next 3 to 5 business days."

As a Retailer, Sideshow has always made any issue right with its retailers. Sometimes it just takes a little longer than what we would like to get a response. You also might want to keep in mind that there may be issues behind the scenes (i.e. negotiations between HT & Sideshow) that we are not always aware of. While we still have several pieces still available for sale, we are waiting for Sideshow's response on how they are going to proceed before we solicit sales for any additional pieces.

In the meantime, we will post any additional information or updates here.

Thank you! This is a fantastic place to get your Hot Toys, Sideshow and any other collectible you can think of so i know he will be working to get this right as best as possible from his end.

I get my samurai friday from apcollectibles.com and i'm anxious to see the alien head on mine but worst case i know this retailer will do all he can for me to make it right. The rest falls on HT & SS.

One question to everyone who already got this: is the alien head color easily visible without opening the box just by looking through the clear plastic?

:lecture This must be Aaron.
He's a stand up guy and I will continue to buy from apcollectibles as long as they're here.

So this is The response I received from BBTS and my follow up.

Dear Jason,

I apologize that you are having issues with the color of the dead alien head trophy. The SideShow website does state "Please Note - Prototype shown, final product may be slightly different" The picture on our website and most websites is the prototype picture provided by SideShow. The ones we have i stock have the reddish-orange/yellow head.

Please let me know if you wish to cancel the item off your Pile of Loot order.

I understand that the final product may vary from the prototype, but don't you think that if there is a difference that it would at least be constant? Is there any effort on your side (BBTS) to contact Hot Toys/Sideshow regarding replacements for most if not all US customers who have received the defect? The consencous that I have been reading on multiple forums regarding this issue is that the change to color should be consistent not hit and miss. As a final note, this issue appears to be a mistake not intentional which would detract from the statement of the final product possibly differing from the production piece. Thanks for your time and help.

I think that we are just going to have to continue to bug US retailers in order to get this issue resolved. They don't seam to have any push to do so for us! :gah:

It would behoove all of you who haven't bought one to stay on the sideline. Given all the defects dating back to the DX 02, HTs has done very little to make any of these problems right after they've shipped the figure. Some DX 02s they replaced but soon after that, they changed their policy regarding replacements. Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, SSCs can convince HTs that the problem is systemic and replacements have to be made available but it's a slim chance at best given HTs track record recently.

I can only imagine how many bootless Bruce Wayne Batman con exclusive figures SSCs has laying around. :slap

Jason,

Cancel with BBTS and hope you can grab one from AP collectibles ( I think he has a couple left). At least Aaron will try to get this resolved for you. You'll probably get it much cheaper there anyway...

once SSxHT have come to decision/resolution be it good or bad for the customers regarding this im sure they will contact all retailers inlcuding BBTS.

I think BBTS is giving the "proto vs final" excuse because they have no idea how wide spread this prob is, not in contact with SS about it yet and prolly think the few complaints they have recieved so far is just by nit-picky collectors.

From what I see it looks like the majority of the heads included are the brown/red type. It almost looks like the purple ones are the "defective" ones because there's so few of them instead of the other way around.

lol the purple one isn't the defective one, considering the aliens body is purple, if the body was brown then yeah but it isn't. It really sucks to see such an amazing figure having such a widespread problem. makes me thankfull mine is purple and hope you all with brown heads get your issue sorted out soon.

What's sad is a lot of guys who bought these early were paying $400+ without shipping. Then they have to shell out another $100+ to get a purple head on ebay.

Yeah I know the purple is the correct version. Just in terms of numbers it just looks like it's the opposite and the purple is the defect.

oh ish! from a HK seller and the head is still wrong? so this goes beyond those sold via SS. must be the entire second wave left the factory like this.

pls email HT's and request a new head and let us know how they respond.

i was thinkin the answer to all this ish was just payin the extra bucks and gettin it from HK seller with no worries but this has me thinkin twice. damn!

:gah:

I just open my to check it ... purple head :) yes got it from china seller

lol after all this is sorted out, i wonder how many loose brown heads vs purple heads there will be on ebay :lol

One brown head sold on ebay now for $50 best offer from $80 BIN in the US. There's only a few purple heads on ebay from Hong Kong scalpers/gougers and **** collectors are all over them. One purple head sold for $90 from Hong Kong. I guess they really had to have them NOW! :D
