Interesting how they skipped Fives and Echo until now. Smart move to put never released before named clones and finish up the line up with upgrades of the two Sideshow best sellers.

Wouldn’t call the first two variations, more like known characters. This Appo isn’t even from the TV-series, it’s Hasbro’s own creation. The Bow you mention, he’s just like Appo but with added NV goggles.
Bingo you've just describe 90% of Clone variants, and that's exactly the reason why Hot Toys have been pumping these clones out like hot cakes.

I got a $20 off Sideshow code emailed to me from an past order so I went ahead and used it on this before they take it off the list of eligible items. I'm mostly all in on the 501st so figured I may as well add this to the display :gah:

I'm just hoping this and the ROTJ set don't come out around the same time, please space them out a bit.

I doubt that happens. I think ROTJ Scout will be part of the annual end of the year push out to improve their financial books for 2022. Appo and Barc will probably take till end of the year 2023. Mostly I'm just spending future me money here so no real harm done 🙃

How many 501st releases to we have now? 6? 7?

Too many.

Both fortunately and also unfortunately for me they are pretty much the only clones I am interested in besides Cody. That 501st deluxe grunt has turned into one of the most expensive things HT has ever put out. But I probably would be tempted to buy some of the other higher profile commanders. Still need them to finish this madness with ARC Fives and Echo.

What I find interesting about this is it’s inaccurate to Commander Appo. This looks more like Commander Bow than it does Appo.

Appo only has a pauldron with no kama so I’ll probably remove that…. Or put the binocs on the helmet and call it Bow.

And no, Commander Appo does NOT have the arrow on the helmet.

He's missing the arrow on his helmet if this is appo, strange they give him the accurate kama and pauldron but not rex who was also supposed to be a realistic version

so close to bly just make him omg
Commander Appo doesn’t have the arrow.

I know people keep bringing up the arrow, and canonically he does have one when he’s a Sergeant as seen on Umbara.

But this is intended to be Appo as a Commander. It gets a bit strange because he’s also been attributed to the vanilla 501st Trooper at the temple that confronts Bail Organa.

Most commonly he’s had the same gear as the semi generic late war Phase 2 Clone Commanders used somewhat interchangeably with other named Clone Officers.

So the figure is mostly accurate to Appo in his Legends appearance as a Commander, not as a Sergeant in The Clone Wars with the arrow. Although technically I think the figure is closest to Commander Bow without the macrobinoculars. They should’ve just done Bow to avoid confusion.

I don’t mind this figure because it makes me feel nostalgic for the toys and comics, but I do still find it a very strange choice for a figure when there are a ton of Clones to be made.

It’s almost like they’re treating the figures that come with the BARC Speeders as side accessories.
That comic panel is Commander Vill, not Appo

Commander Appo looks like a regular 501st Grunt in canon (as seen in ROTS).

Sergeant Appo has the arrow.

I mean to be fair the figure isn’t really Appo either. :lol

But yes. that is correct. I used that panel to show what I said earlier about the similar appearances of various 501st officers in Legends (like Appo, Bow, Vill, and “generic” commanders) leading to some confusion.

I’m really not sure why Hot Toys went this route. They should’ve made the BF2 501st Officer or Specialist instead to match the Heavy.

I never cared for the prequels, and never saw one minute of any of the animated series, but I can definitely use the vehicles (POd both versions).
