Just modded the Hell out of my Hasbro Sandtrooper and it looks pretty good. Changed the helmet for a custom one and cut all the armour and tightened it up. Cut the boots at the ankle and looking for new boots but for the moment im useing the old ones. Added ammo pouches to his left side breast plate.
Any more mods i could do ?
Im loving the idea of useing what seemed to be a bit of rubbish.

The Hasbro Troopers always looked very dumpy to me... kind of like these were the "husky" versions :lol

the rubber troopers SUCK. the VOTC figures are not bad, but now that I've gotten a SSC one there is no going back. can't even look at it anymore.

For the price and a little custom TLC thngs can look a whole lot different. They also do for background stormys in your army of SS Stormtroopers.

Mooncat. What helmet is that on your Hasbro stormy ?

OK, so I got a Hasbro Sandtrooper with my Dewback awhile ago.

Not much cop.

Then today I received a couple of Medi Bodies courtesy of the Snow Corporation (Thanks Dorgs :D) So I thought I might have a bash at improving him.

Don't know how far I'll get tonight, when I'll finish him, or if indeed I ever will!

Anyhow, we all like a good WIP, so here's where I'm starting from, I'll post updates as and when... enjoy a good giggle as I wreck a perfectly good figure and curse and swear a bit!

First Fit, or should that be Non-Fit?

Hmmm.... Needs a bit of trimming!

<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/?action=view&current=Sandy2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/Sandy2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

OK, First cheat! I dumped the Hsbro Groin and abdomine armour in favour of a Sideshow set I had spare. Then used a Hasbro 100th Luke figure belt (minus the ammo packs and Thermal detonator)
Then hacked chunks out of the Chest armour to get it to fit.
<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/?action=view&current=Sandy3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/Sandy3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Also added black elastic left and right to hold it tight, just like we showed Sideshow on this forum...

Starting to take shape...
<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/?action=view&current=Sandy5.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/Sandy5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Right I'm off to watch some Vampire porn (Tru-Blood) on TV so I'll pick this up another night... but before I go, just to show I take this stuff real serious, I'm in my full guildsmans regalia. I hope you all make the correct effort when working!!!

So, while we all wait for the Orange Pauldron Sandie to go up for orders, I thought I might as well crack on with my own Sandtrooper Mash-up.

Tonight we will address the legs.

It was obvious from the first fit, that the Medi body was way too small for the standard Hasbro armour. One thing we can do is add leg extenders. As you can see there is quite a variety in "Leg Peg Length" with medies. My advice - keep a bits box. Never chuck anything away, the body parts are all interchangable so by swapping feet I can add a bit of needed height!
<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/?action=view&current=Sandy7.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/Sandy7.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Then I'll address the "Swartzenegger" Thight armour by spliting it up the back and re-gluing (Uh, yeah, watch those scalpels, their sharp ahem! I'm a professional though so don't worry I only lost a pint!)
<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/?action=view&current=Sandy8.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/Sandy8.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Then I thought I would use the Shin Armour from the Hasbro figure, but I don't like the attached boots. Medis have great ankle articulation and seems silly to loose it! So I'm chopping the Armour away from the boot...
<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/?action=view&current=Sandy9.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/Sandy9.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

And then transplanting the Shoe section from these Admiral Akbar boots - They are a little smaller, suiting the "petite" medi proportions and have a bit more depth to their sculpt!

<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/?action=view&current=Sandy10.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Sandtrooper/Sandy10.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Right, so first I need to have some dinner, clear up, then see how far we get!

Tonights endevours are sponsored by MrJ.P. Chenet, so if it all goes pear shaped you know who to blame!

Looking forward to seeing whats left of both the trooper and DGs hands after that booze and scalpel combination

:chug

LOL Got sidetracked watching Life on Mars! I'm so easily distracted.

Still at least my hands are still here... can't say the same for the wine though :monkey3

LOL thank god you are still with us... thought you may have a wee mishap! But no... you are just bladdered...........again

Pretty ambitious project mate! The shoulders might be tough to make work... good luck!

Yeah, the shoulder armour is the weakest part of the Hasbro figure (attached to the upper arm and doesn't actually cover the shoulder!?)

Was thinking about swapping it out for a set of sideshow shoulder Bells.

On the other hand, one side will be hidden by the Pauldron, and I could look for some ammo pouches to stick on the left side to disguise that... Anyhow, arms are for another night and another bottle.

Oh, and I'll finish the legs an post some pics... honest! :angelsmil
