Not exactly a gun question ... but close ...

I'm in the market for a monster bowie knife of the "Crocodile Dundee" variety. Good for cutting, hacking through brush, and general all-purpose use (killing grizzly bears, dry shaving, etc.). I've found two that I like, but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations.

The two I've found are the "Outback" by Down Under Knives ($189.00) ...

... and the Linder "Crocodile Hunter" ($149.00) ...

Both are approximately 16" long with a 10" blade. I've read reasonably good reviews of both on a couple of random forums. Any thoughts or recommendations on these two, or comparable bowie knives?

I would like a Luger fake-diorama within a WW2 theme. Like a loot Luger in a present box that someone sent to a friend back home or something (maybe a bloodstained letter etc). Wheatered gun :)

What do you guys think about this...thing:

Its amusing, I like the silencer they put on it that moves around when they fire ;-O I live in Massachusetts so this thing would be 100% illegal here anyway.

that's pretty cool. i like this one too!

Pretty neat. Looks like something out of Halo. Too bad I don't own any of the handguns that it accepts. Aren't silencers fairly illegal?? Like you need a Class 3 license to own?

you don't need a class 3 to own it, you need to go through a class 3 dealer to acquire one. Quite the opposite really, as they are fairly legal - just expensive.

I just ordered this one for my carbine

Its going to be a complement to my Leapers 8-32x56

Which is a perfect scope for longshots in prone position, but heavy and not so fun for firing standing up.

It varies from state to state. In Georgia, you need Class III permit and purchase the suppressor from a class III dealer.

In Wisconsin you can but is there really a point to silencers. They aren't like they are in the movie unless you have specific ammo, no?

In order for them to work in maximum effecency, you would need subsonic ammunition. Suppressors are great since you as others had stated you don't need headgear. They don't sound anything like the movies. You can check out youtube videos to see. They work in varying degrees depending on ammo and the quality of the suppressor.

Yeah, I wish I had a suppressor - my AR really bothers people on the range.
Yea, but what bothers them? The noise or your EVIL BLACK RIFLE. Pisses me off. "Most" hunters who only target shoot around hunting season would throw those of us who prefer a semi-automatic weapon under a bus given the chance. They rant about the lethality of our weapons while shooting in their 30-06.:cuckoo:

I want one of these:

LOL...I like how he says "And so you can hear it without the "pa-ting!"

Dude...we heard it that way with your first 4 misses.

J/K...I know he was shooting at non-metal objects.

But I did think it was funny to see him with hearing protection on while firing a suppressed .22.

Very cool, though. I would like to see more pistols have versions with intigrated suppressors.
