Through the month of Fantacular May the Freaks board will be having it's first photo contest!

I wanted to make sure the prize goes to someone who will appreciate it, so this photo contest is for images of Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars items only.

Take a photo of your favorite Sideshow Star Wars items - these can be 1/6, Premium Format Figures, dioramas or other Star Wars product released by Sideshow. The use of backgrounds is encouraged, and you may use figures from other companies and customs, but at least 40% of the items in the photo need to be from Sideshow.

The photos will be judged based on photographic skill, humor, re-creation of movie scenes and creative use of Sideshow figures.

You may use photos that you have previously posted, but they must be submitted to the contest.

The photos must be taken by you. We will know if you lift a picture from somewhere else.

You will need to submit a hi-res .jpg of at least 200 dpi. Size matters not (dimensions that is), but it needs to be under 10 MB.

You may enter more than once, but subsequent submissions must be significantly different from each other.

The judges are myself ,and various employees of Sideshow.

Send the photo to dstephan @ sideshowcollectors.com with the photo attached. Include your board name, real name, mailing address.

Photos will be posted on the forum in a dedicated thread by the admin.

The deadline for entry is 12 AM, May 25th. Winner will be announced as soon as judging is completed.

There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize - there are no categories - whichever is, in the opinion of the judges, the most successful photo in any of the subject areas will win first prize.

Now for the Grand Prize: A production sample exclusive 1/6 Darth Vader! The production sample is just like the regular release, but will be received earlier than anyone else! Just as I recently got the Utapau trooper a month before it shipped, best efforts will be made for the grand prize winner to receive Vader weeks before anyone else!

2nd prize - Ki-Adi Mundi 1/6
3rd prize - Captain Antilles 1/6

Please Note:
Sideshow Collectibles is offering a limited edition prize for this contest that is not yet available in our warehouses. Please be aware that your prize will not be shipped to you at the close of the contest, but rather when the figure is available. Please allow 4-6 weeks after arrival into our warehouse for final delivery of the prize.

Re: Fantacular Freak Foto Contest

Star Wars fan appreciate something.:lol:lol:lol

Re: Fantacular Freak Foto Contest

Question--is this being used for something, like Sideshow print materials?

Also--can the photo be manipulated, like putting in a background with photoshop or multiplying how many stormtroopers there are?

Re: Fantacular Freak Foto Contest

This is just for the board (so far) - fake backgrounds are okay - multiplying SSC stormtroopers is okay, multiplying real stormtroopers is not.

Re: Fantacular Freak Foto Contest

This is awesome, I'd like to congratulate Maulfan on his new Darth Vader figure Now! LOL!
Good luck all really looking forward to the pictures

Re: Fantacular Freak Foto Contest

Dave, is this a pure image contest or can it be composed to look like a poster with like a simple title on it too, like a big image and "Episode I" at the bottom or something simple like that?

Re: Fantacular Freak Foto Contest

Quoting myself because I didn't see an edit button for my post in here and wanted to consolidate my questions.

Number 1

Dave, is this a pure image contest or can it be composed to look like a poster with like a simple title on it too, like a big image and "Episode I" at the bottom or something simple like that?

Number 2

Are photoshop lightsaber and blaster effects allowed?

Number 3

Does this need to be pure photography or can it be a computer graphics? By that, I'm getting at, can you take say a photo of 5 pieces individually then use the computer to paste them into one image, and can it incorporate blending effects like fading a picture into the background?

Re: Fantacular Freak Foto Contest

Cool... I guess I only have one real chance and thats with my Jabba setup. Too bad Carbonite Han won't be here in time. :(

Re: Fantacular Freak Foto Contest

Quick question: Can I submit a 4 shot "storyboard" as 1 entry?

Re: Fantacular Freak Foto Contest

This has to be the best contest you have ever put on Dave. :clap

I won't participate because my photo skills suck; as does my camera. But I am looking forward to what everyone puts together. Can't wait to see. :rock

Ditto for me but you never know. You can't win if you don't at least try. Although if photoshop is allowed I am totally out. :)
