Did igear ever make Megatron? Ive seen the Prototype pics but no luck tracking it down.

Not to my knowledge. But it's probably a good thing that they didn't. I don't think it would've survived a transformation given how fragile MP Megatron is. Imagining a downscaled MP-05 but made up of cheaper plastics, that would've been flirting with disaster imo. Of course this is all speculation on my part since I don't own any previous iGear figures nor have I held mini-Megatron in my hands.

Igear plastic is the same quality that hasbro uses.

Correct, the only one that feels noticeably different is Faith Leader but that's partially because most people are used to the diecast present in the MP01 mold that it originated from.

The idea that iGear products use the kind of cheap plastic found on dollar store KO's is a myth.

I think they've abandoned the scaled down MP05 and may be looking at doing a new design instead but it's getting lost in the shuffle as they also have the following on the table,

Impactor ( My most wanted 3rd party figure. )

More Mini Warriors ( Windcharger, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper & a bigger Huffer please. )

PP04 Bumblebee & Cliffjumper ( I think this will be shelved in favor of Mini Warrior versions. )

Classics scale Dinobots ( Meh. )

Just pre ordered MP-13 from BBTS along with the 2 tape sets. :panic: He was my favorite Transformer growing up and the new version looks brilliant. Hope this doesn't start me collecting others. :horror

The Amazon MP10 offer was too good to be true as it seems they've been sending out cancellation e-mails....it was a mistake at their end.

I feel for any of my fellow Europeans who genuinely wanted one for their own collection but the meltdowns from scalpers at TFW2005 should be fun :lol

Hmm. Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression that 3rd parties generally use lesser quality plastics. With iGear, the coneheads have always interested me but I held off buying anything from them due to this review for Faith Leader.

But I understand that clear plastic is really fragile and the first run of this figure had tons of problems.

That sucks for those that ordered in the UK. I guess there`s still hope that it`ll still be released there? And yeah, it's going to be a ****show on TFW2005. If you thought the uproar of delayed preorders and price adjustments from TRU.com was bad....

I've had an iGear Faith Leader and Thundercracker (whatever he is called). Faith Leader is pretty good, quality-wise, but I think the TC is below Hasbro's equivalent MP-03 mold figures. Didn't feel fragile, just felt a bit "cheaper" somehow IMO. Not a huge difference, but I think a difference was there.

yup, clear plastics are notoriously terrible. HOWEVER, as someone who has the reissue Faith leader, and the minibot warriors, and both the ratchet and ironhide figures, Trust me, you've got nothing to fear from the coneheads. All the reviews I've seen on those specifically have said they are nice and sturdy, like the official hasbro releases.

GO check out Pugue's Review of them if you want a good one .

Yep got my Cancellation email a couple of hours ago :(

Oh well no MP10 for me then bum holes of the highest order

Cool. I may wait a while if iGear is planning to re-issue them. Though I'm not sure if TT/Hasbro plan on tackling them with the updated MP-11 mold. At the very least I may pick up Hench. I may be able to free up more funds for it and maybe for Not-Shockwave. Just waiting on OMG's Bane pics. :monkey2

If that guy was Blitzwing or Astrotrain I woulda been all over it.

Sixshot is nice in robot mode but all the alt modes are crappy looking and I also wasn't too impressed with the previous MMC product I bought ( HoS Shockwave ) so I'll be giving it a miss.

Yeah, Sixshot is cool and all, but the later characters don't have that same cachet the season 1/2 'bots, and even the ones from the movie, have. I'll probably pass as well, nice as he looks.

Wow, Fan Toys Quakewave looks great! I'll probably wait for reviews from people who have it in hand though. Will definitely keep an eye on BBTS and TFSource to see if they are getting these in. I think the fact that they kept this project quiet and the quick turn around was smart on their part. Though with the licensing issues (not sure what's going on) I doubt Takara Tomy would have been able to block this release like they did with Soundwave.

Wow, yeah, these latest pics look really, really nice. The legs look a lot better, for one thing.

I can live with the hose attaching in the front of the arm, to be quite honest. I think I read that they'll make an alternate part to switch that up and make it cartoon accurate, though... it'll be available with a different figure, which is too bad, but still - nice that they'll be making the extra effort. Or seem to be planning to, at any rate.

Wasn't the Classics Dinobots rumour before they started with this whole PP-scale thing?

I seriously doubt they'll deviate from their established scale at this point. They aren't Hasbro, after all. ;)

Hmm, I've got the Coneheads. They don't feel cheaper to me, but maybe they're different from their other Seekers.

The plastic seems generally harder... and perhaps more brittle as a result, I suppose. Hasbro and Takara plastic feels a bit softer and maybe more "forgiving", in terms of safety and potential breakage.

This is based on no understanding of plastics whatsoever, though. :)

I have bought the following from iGear,

Faith Leader
3 Seekers
3 Coneheads
3 Mini Warriors
2 Specialists
Kup heads & weapons

None of these have plastic issues aside from the occasional loose ball joint that can be fixed using the super glue trick.

The BS about cheap plastic usually emanates from collectors with an anti 3rd party stance or disappointed buyers of Faith Leader who were expecting it to be as weighty as MP01/MP04.

As for MP10 I hope it still gets released here for those that want one but I will be sticking with Faith Leader.

DPrime,
Not sure on the Dinobots, there's been that many different rumors about 3rd party ones that it's hard to keep up with everything.

As long as FansProject don't make them I suppose it'd be nice to see some but I'm only intrested in buying the rest of the team in MP scale....which is actually properly scaled for the Classics as well.

That might be the case from some, but I'm just giving my honest opinion. Obviously, I like and buy 3rd party stuff.

So, can anyone tell me where a good place to buy the Masterpiece line other than Big Bad Toystore? I am looking for a MP-11.

I recently got mine at Kool Toyz, but they just sold out of it. Honestly, maybe keep a eye out in the FS section here or on the TF boards like TFW2005, Seibertron, or Cybertron.ca. Ebay listings have this guy at ridiculous prices. Looks like Robotkingdom has him in stock for $199.90.

Looks like Quakewave is up for preorder at Automaton Toys! :panic::panic::panic:

Edit: Beat me by 14 minutes! Was busy searching for other stores and got sidetracked buy the Shockwave pre-order lol.
