Hot Toys Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) - Spider-Man: No Way Home

My final payment just got shifted from 20th of Feb or 20th March so I guess he's not shipping anytime soon.

Very tempted to cancel now and wait for a Spider-Man 2 specific version.

if you can get your non refundable deposit back it's probably worth cancelling
the final release is a bit underwhelming but we will not know how long until Hot Toys makes a Spider-Man 2

They ain’t making a SM2 version. Look at their SM3 version, it’s the same thing as the NWH when it shouldn’t be. It’s a simple repaint and by that logic, HT essentially views this NWH version as the SM1-3 red version.

It’s more so that Hot Toys are telling us through their actions that they’re lazy.

Yea I wouldn’t wait for a sm2 version from them. Our problem is that we put so much stake in hot toys over the years and never called them out early on for there crap decision making that they feel like they can do whatever they want. It’s sad really.
They always pop out with surprise reveals and weird announcements. Like them saying this will be the year of Batman when I bet money they are going to do two figures and it’ll be a jokeriezd bale Batman

So I bought the regular release from Toys Buying Agent (who is fantastic, btw), and it's apparently the newer batch with corrected eye placement.

It actually looks decent on the shelf, although I have positioned it facing to the side, because DAMN that stitch on the forehead looks like arse. The posing is also pretty limited, but that was to be expected. Done about as well as I could have with the pose without wrinkling the outfit too much.

It's ok, I suppose. I still like it due to a Raimi Spider-Man being pretty much essential to me.

7/10 figure, in my opinion. Probably a 6/10 if you aren't big on the Raimi trilogy. Shame that's all I can give after how excited I was when it was announced.

Also got mine from TBA, eye placement looks good to me and the butt crack at the top seems a tiny bit less obvious.
I think I may have got a defective suit/body though, feels like his left side under the arm doesn't have enough material and won't allow me to raise the arm fully.
I'll post a video shortly trying to show what I mean.

Yeah I muted the sound as I think it would have just been me breathing into the phone haha

But basically the figures left arm can't raise fully due to what I believe is the suit being too tight or not having enough material to be able to move properly.
You can see when I raise it that the suit starts to come away from the body with the tension, where I start to push my finger, whereas the other side stays flush to the body.
Just looking for suggestions as to if this is "normal" or should I contact TBA and see if I can get a replacement/exchange?

Edit: Thought I would just say, after showing the body/suit issue I just tried to show off the masked head as much as I could so people can see what the 2nd batch looks like.

Does anyone know of any body/outfit combos out there that would make a Tobey Maguire Peter Parker so I can use the Tobey headsculpt?

Head is way undersized.

Every time I see this figure I want to cry. I wanna say I’ll wait for a 3.0, but at this point I have 0 trust in hot toys to do a good job.
Every time I get a new sideshow or prime 1 statue I’m so happy. Every time I get a hot toys figure, even if it was 25% off, I just question why I still bother with the 1/6 hobby. Hot toys has more misses than a stormtrooper these days.

Well, reluctantly I cancelled and managed to get my deposit back. Dean Knight's review of the supposedly improved 2nd batch sculpt was the final straw. That seamline is just horrific.

I hope we get an improved version from the original Raimi trilogy but if not so be it. Tobey will always be my live action Spidey but I refuse to accept just a poorly executed figure.

Will spend my money with Mars Toys and InArt until Hot Toys decide to start trying again.

Absolutely bonkers that that new Spider-Man figure of superior looks like it came from the an actual movie and is much better than this. I’m torn cause I really want an updated Tobey but I truly can’t stand this company.
