First time I'm seriously thinking about canceling preorder. The more photos I see, the less I like. I will wait to see if there are final photos of the product. Neca's is still my favourite.
NECA did do a fantastic job with theirs. Personally I will wait till I get Asmus’ in hand before making judgement on theirs. For me almost all of their figures have looked significantly better in hand.
I think the two sculpts are fantastic. Gollum/Smeagol provide so many different expressions throughout the films that it is impossible to find "the one" impression for each. I wouldn't be surprised if a custom sculpt(s) are offered by a sculptor after release.

I don't think it is a problem of expressions, but of textures in an age of reducing costs. If anyone managed for not high end collectors, I don't know why it shouldn't be for high end ones. The price doesn't seem to reflect the final product
I also believe I will cancel my deluxe one, specially if they will do the same as with Arwen and send both single releases in a pack inside of a regular brown box. I don't know what is happening with Asmus, but I don't like at all the direction they took several releases ago.

Asmus' sculpts do veer towards the cartoonish on this release, but I still like them.

The likeness is definitely there. The color of his eyes is a bit too turquoise, rather than light blue. But colors are hard to judge, as the different lighting and editing may take place.
