This is kind of what I mean about thinking about any type of toy collecting as “high-end” compared to literally anything else people with money collect. It’s already tough to get non-collectors to understand why we spend what we do on toys, can you imagine what they would think of some of us if they knew how toxic we get over those toys too?

If you remove price there really is no difference between this and toddlers fighting over toys.

Even when you consider price, and how little $300 can actually buy you these days… Most people in any kind of city pay at least 10x that in housing payments per month, it’s barely a car payment or nice bottle of alcohol… even a week’s groceries for a family can easily be more than an average 1:6 figure. There are so many mundane things that are more expensive than these toys. Even just researching a nice display can show results that are more expensive than most peoples entire collections. If you can find a display for something that cost more than the thing then that thing probably isn’t that special in the grand scheme of things.

Nothing in this hobby is important. Unfortunately most of it is not “Art” to anyone outside of the hobby whether it should be or not. Most of it if not all of it will be completely unremembered by history. Collect what you want because you want it, it’s that simple. Anything else is just delusion.

The obvious problem is that QS hasn't issued a public statement and it doesn't appear likely that they will. If that's what you want to wait for, that's clearly your prerogative, but don't tell me in absolute terms that my conclusions are pre-mature and suggest that I don't have the right to post a conclusion that was borne out of posts that I have seen here. It was not malicious, nor was it unsupported, and it was clearly a viable conclusion. Whether or not you agree, is your own judgement.

Clearly, there were issues with TW, that is not in dispute. In fact, the issues were so egregious that QS actually made an official statement on the matter. In fact, it was clearly pointed out that the cause of the official statement was, in fact, TW.

Subsequently, when the sales were reopened, there were a slew of posts made on that subject. Some of them were logical, others not so much. There were, however, key posts that were made and responded to by myself and others that supported my conclusion.

Kit further suggested that perhaps the reopening of the project was due to "the problematic vendor". Subsequently, I made a post that suggesting that QS was reopening to help out any "wronged" consumers from "the problematic vendor". Rather than post "no, that's not accurate, just wait for the public statement", or "I am in close contact with them throughout the course of this process and I can telll you that this isn't the case", he LIKED the comment.

Speaking purely for myself, my order was placed in the first few minutes, and as long as I get it delivered, that’s all I really care about. It cost less than $100 for the deposit, so it’s not like I donated a kidney to get the order in. If this helps more people to get this, I have no problem with it.

The post I made was clearly based on the aforementioned, along with all of the other subsequent posts that appeared to be supported by the only authorized QS distributor that bothered to take the time to post on this forum.

So there you have it. Arguably, the closest person on this forum to a QS distributor, who is in regular contact, either directly or indirectly, openly speculating that the reopening was due to wanting to make it right.

I've wasted all the time I care to on this.

Not that I care about having a hobby of mine legitimized in the eyes of the casual going public, but you ARE right:
it’s bad enough when theres already a “40 year old virgin” stigma attached to people like us, but if the toxicity were brought to their attention...ugh...

It’s embarrassing.

Is there such toxicity in other “collecting fandoms”? Like...do Tory Burch costumers get into arguments with Gucci costumers? Lol

I think yes but more at the entry levels. For example someone who can afford a single Rolex or maybe fortunate enough to have a single AP, VC, or PP might argue and get toxic about why their Rolex/AP etc is objectively better than something else.

This is really confirmation bias and them trying to justify they made the right purchase, when in reality any one of them is the right purchase if you just like the watch…

People who really have the money to properly collect the watches know they all have selling points and pedigree that make them worth owning and typically don’t waste time bickering about which is better. Plus they’d probably rather be on a yacht or something.

I really hope not. They are the last group of people a company will listen too. Like I understand BrooklynWolf X frustration with what these man babies are saying. And it's obvious QS wants to help people who might be getting screwed from said vendor who started the whole thing.

I really just read 10 pages about this silly PO issue. That’s the real sickness here. I’m so addicted to my collection I can’t pull myself away from the most insignificant petty gossip.

Remember the pictures of the unpainted Joker sculpt from a few pages back? Might have been fun to discuss those, right, guys? Guys?…

I think we’ll all be happier once Toys Wonderland goes bust and stops ‘allegedly’ causing so much drama.
I know no one here is I’ll informed enough to order with them now but, please, spread the word to facebook. Those man babies know not what they do.

Anyways- IA closed the initial PO after 3 days just like they said; I don’t recall them promising to never reissue the figure or reopen POs at a later date so us deluxe lunatics can feel vindicated in our reckless financial abandon.
I always PO within 3 days of an announcement so it’s no skin off my sack.
 
This is like the perfect storm of people who get nuts over edition sizes, perceived exclusivity, pre-order bonuses, FOMO, DC, Batman, and Heath Ledger Joker.

If someone out there wants truly limited items, there are better options out there. They should be buying it because they like it, not because they think they can have something few others can have.

It's interesting seeing this drama unfold though. But I'm not surprised seeing Toys Wonderland mentioned considering the massive headache they caused Jazz Inc.
