I'm glad I picked this figure up, was actually going to skip it. In hand it looks amazing and the sculpt is a higher quality than the ANH figure.

Funny I completely disagree. I thought in hand, the ANH sculpt blew away the prototype pictures.

In seeing the prototype for this one I was thinking hot toys could have almost a perfect head.

What came out looks just drastically different and inferior to me. One of the biggest drops I’ve ever seen.

A lot has to do with paint.

Look at the eyes and eyebrows completely different.

The skin tone and lip tone also plays a big part.

Big disappointment :(

I think this is overall a better figure than the ANH one and the sculpt on it is pretty strong. However, I still think the ANH sculpt slightly has this sculpt beat.

The dress on the ANH rendition is what really drags it down.

To be fair, the ANH head has the super-iconic buns as part of it, which screams "Leia" whereas the Hoth Leia has all the hair pulled back. It's a somewhat minor thing, but it is a factor when both sculpts are decent. While I do feel the ANH is a better likeness, it still isn't one of those rare "perfect" sculpts that HT achieves every once in a while.

I really need to pull both of those figs out and have a closer look side-by-side. It's funny that I really love the Hoth Leia outfit (one of my top five favorite Kenner figs back in the day) and only reluctantly bought the ANH version to complete the ANH line-up, but may end up preferring the ANH look.

I also think that focusing solely on the Leia Hoth headsculpt as the issue ignores the fact that the figure's issues go beyond that - the accessories are way off accurate, the boots aren't fully convincing and the gloved hands are mediocre sculpts that look plasticky. I really like the outfit but there is something off with the fit.

I’m going to skip this figure at this point. I think it looks great but I’ve just been unable to pull the trigger on this one knowing the Endor version is coming. It’s more colourful for sure, and the helmet instead of sculpted hair will give it more realism, though I’d like a helmetless option too.

This figure looks great but I don't feel compelled to have her in the collection. Perhaps if we had gotten a Bespin or Hoth Han first, it may have changed things for me. But I'm fine with so far having only ANH Leia.

I’m glad I got this figure. It’s one of my favorite looks from my favorite Star Wars movie. Can’t say I’d get either a Bespin escape or Bespin gown version if they were separate figures. If the escape version parts were included in this figure I would have been fine with it but no need for an extra.

Now I just need HT to make a Boushh, Endor/General Leia, and a Jabba’s Prisoner Leia then my Leia collection will be complete.

Got mine all set up. We ended up using spare hands from ANH Leia to get the gloveless, hands-on-hips pose.

My exact sentiments as well. I feel it's the look that she's most synonymous with for ESB.

Strangely split verdicts on this one: some love it... some are meh.
Just think the proto was much better. This is still a good figure, but the proto was superior.

I feel ANH version has better expression and has a better sculpt overall.

Here are the best few shots of the production figure I could find to compare to what I consider the very best shot of the Proto. Couldn’t quite match the angle, but hopefully this is a decent representation. Obviously JC’s personal paint up is vastly superior, but check out the bones:

Good God, that Proto was breathtaking...
