Let's hope for news this weekend. When I found the pics of the figure I thought it was a done deal. Wife knows I'm bummed about it maybe not happening so she made me an Adam West Batman shirt!

As the HT Arkham Asylum Joker is scheduled for release (pffftt!) in October, any '66 Joker would be entirely secondary to it (and any future Suicide Squad Joker variants, for that matter). I truly doubt the '66 Joker will be released, as the modern movie and video game likenesses have much broader appeal in the market (and that's not even factoring in the apparently soft sales of the HT '66 Batman and Robin, and the MIA '66 Batmobile).

That's the problem, some say yes and some say no. Hot Toys should be better organized and less inclined to mislead this way. Truth is none of us know anything except they showed the darn thing in such a way to as to scream impending release.

Yep, it had all sorts of accessories, extra hands, etc. when they showed it. Why would they include all the extra stuff if they had no intention of releasing it?

It was way to complete to be a one off, has to be something with licensing or someone did not like the HS or they just have not gotten around to it yet. There are still figures they teased last summer that just recently went up for PO like SS Batman and R2D2. You know C3PO will show up eventually and there are other figures that HT had at SDCC that are still MIA so if they are still trying getting PO's for their big sellers up i still have hope for this.

I never thought I'd be advocating for this, but, at this point, I'd say everyone should just go about their business and not worry about it. It'll happen, eventually, just as the Arkham Joker did, so, yeah. Hopefully sooner than later, but, as weird as HT is with this ****, I wouldn't be bothered by it.

This is the proper attitude to have for anything in this hobby.

To be honest - I'm actually hoping they drag this figure out, as there are a few HT figures I want coming out soon, but I really want this figure too, so need the time to put the money aside!

:lecture :rotfl Yep. I feel this way more often than I care to admit to. I wouldn't mind a long pre-order wait with the assurance its being released. With the delay of other figures I suppose this is not that long really. Just annoying. Especially with teapot and disco versions of other characters being churned out. :wink1:

I'm putting all my eggs in this basket and will make this the next Joker I figure I purchase.

Is Hot Toys at the Toy Fair? Haven't seen any news come out about them.

Ah. I did not know that.

The kind of information you have to learn on the streets. :lecture

They are never at TF.

Toy Fair is a trade convention for manufacturers to secure and present product to retailers. HTs has no US retailers.
Well they have retailers who purchase from Sideshow. Forbidden Planet New York and other comic shops, formerly Hastings. And Diamond Select (an arm of Diamond Distributors) attends ToyFair. The latter are similar to Sideshow in that they distribute out to comic shops and the like, though they also edge their way into more common brick and mortar outlets like Toys R Us. So, it seems to me it is more a strategic decision not to spend too many resources and energy spreading themselves too thin than anything else (they get a lot more attention focusing on SDCC). But this is just speculation on my part.

Toy Fair has been traditionally a trade show...it's turned into a quasi comic con due to the advent of bloggers(ultra fan boys) who report on these new offerings. Since Hot Toys does not sell direct to any retailers (as opposed to online retailers ie Sideshow who distribute their product) they have no need to attend a show like this. They don't "attend" SDCC. They provide new product to be their distributer, SSCs, to be displayed for the fans, as SDCC is not a trade show primarily.

TF is primarily for manufacturers, ie Hasbro, Mattel, QMx, Mezco, Neca, etc, to show upcoming product to retailers and online retailers to secure orders. Since SSCs is a sole US distributer, why would they need to attend TF to show the one and only company in the US that they directly deal with any new product :huh

If we were in a pre-internet age I would agree with you 100%. Though as you say, it isn't just a trade show anymore, because of the online attention it gets. For many companies it seems a means to market their product to the public as much as anything else. Going back to the Diamond Select example, they aren't really trying to drum up new companies to sell their stuff from my understanding. Most of the stuff they promote is going primarily to comic shops and other online retailers, who already know about their product, or Toys R Us, who they have an existing relationship with, and have exclusive sets that they promote at ToyFair. But Diamond often puts out a lot of new product at Toy Fair because other companies put out less, allowing them to get more relative attention than they get putting stuff out at SDCC.

There is an analogy for Hot Toys with the Sideshow affiliated retailers, who would benefit nearly as much (or little) from having specific items promoted to the public. If it weren't a costly move, I'm sure HT would send product out to the New York Toyfair. The smattering of in-person attendees at these events will always be dwarfed by the online viewing audience.

Might be a way to introduce toy collectors and companies to hot toys and their high end figures. I know not everyone is familiar with hot toys. They could definitely steal the show, especially when compared to other toy quality collectible toys. But just an assumption on my part. At sdcc, they are in a sea of competition with other high end figure makers and statues. But I guess we wouldn't want mass produced hot toys figures at Target and toys r us. Or do we?

Well they're already mass produced. Speculation is that tens of thousands of figures are typically made nowadays. Personally, I wouldn't care how many were made if the quality remained constant, particularly if it meant a drop in price due to economies of scale, but others would be horrified at the prospect of even more being produced, I'm sure.

I wish.
