Disney's Director Krennic is begging for an upgrade, so I gave him a new paint job, new body, made a cloak, new belt and gloves. A great figure for 30.00 US

Did you squeeze the dome by any chance? Maybe it's just the lens angle distortion.

Yeah, I had to boil the dome to get it down as far as I wanted it, and I think it shrunk a tad and the 'flare' narrowed. I tried to widen it again to no avail.

I still like it, though! It has a bit of a stylized look to it, but he fits right in with my Play Arts Kai figures.

Great job! That looks fantastic. I've got one on the way and am looking forward to seeing it in hand.

Based on your repaint, that sculpt is amazing.

Such awesome figures, especially when you consider the price. This line just came out of no where but I'll be watching it closely now.

What's strange is that only a few years ago this would have been considered Hot Toys quality.

Elite Premiums are $20 each at disneystore.com with free shipping over $75.

They are also $20.00 at the Disney Stores, if you live near one. I picked up the Krennic and Rey. I'm planning on using the Rey as the base for the extra scavenger gear that the Hot Toys one comes with.

It's funny, but my son and I spent a good 30 minutes looking at all the Krennic sculpts in the store. They all had slight differences, enough so that even he could notice them. I think we got a good one.

Zebraten, what did you do to your Krennic's face? It looks great and I might attempt to upgrade mine a little bit if I feel adventurous.

I stripped it and repainted it. It's a very good sculpt, even as is but it looks better with a decent repaint.

So I did a real quick bash with the scavenger gear from Hot Toys, and I don't think the result is too bad at all.

Didn't like the flare of the death troopers shin armor. Took 1/4 of an inch out of the back and glue it back together ( his left leg in the pic)

Not really. Have any of you seen these figures in person? I was in a Disney store yesterday and I was surprised by how bad these look.

Don't get me wrong: for $20 they're great, about what Hasbro did, but way smaller. They looked like 1/7th scale. But they're no where near "Hot Toys a few years ago" quality. That's wishful thinking ... or 'alternate facts'.

I received the "Director Orson Krennic" today and while definitely not "Hot Toys a few years ago" quality, it can hold it's own, for the time being.

The sculpt is VERY well done. While the paint app is simple, it's not garish. Definitely better than any Hasbro figure I've had. I liken it more like the early DML/Dragon figures paint apps. I think some of our resident re-painters could really bring out that great sculpt even more.

The outfit is again simple but well cut. Material is cheap and stiff but with the price-point, it was to be expected. A water treatment should help soften things up and bring scaled folds to the cloak. He brings two pairs of gloved hands which are to-scale with the figure. No oversized Hasbro claws here.

As for size, I think he's definitely near 1/6th scale.

The only big negatives I could find were the boots with the hinged toes and the gloved hands which have a separate cuff. Pretty crappy design there. The body is garbage but surprisingly well proportioned. Mine has some looseness at the hips but still manages to stand without a base. But the number one negative were those dreaded twisty ties, threads and little clear bands holding the figure to the packaging. I hate those things. Took me some time to cut him loose from that inferno trap... The threads were the worst, as it created tiny pinprick holes in the outfit. Hopefully they can be worked out by some water treatment as well.

Overall, I'm actually impressed with it in-hand. I'm already thinking that I'll need to pre-order that second Death Trooper to flank his other side... :wink1:

Straight out of the packaging with only the hands swapped out:

Krennic is definitely the stand out. But even so, I just don't see the appeal.

I'd buy an HT Krennic is a heart beat. Just can't do the off-the-shelf figures anymore I guess. I'd rather bash.

I agree with you guys. I only picked him up because of the 40% off code that someone posted earlier.

I'll definitely work on upgrading him, no doubt. The body, gloves and boots will be replaced. The head sculpt will wait some time, until we're sure that Hot Toys won't release a Krennic and this will be the only game in town. Then it will get repainted.

There is definite potential here, especially for the price and the possibility that it will be the only 1/6 scaled Krennic we'll get.

There was a 3 day code I posted a few days ago. They are great for kids and their first collectible figures. I have a 6 year old that I got Vader and Death trooper for. Bought a few ht style stands and evil face decals. He loves them and for the price are well worth it. Way better than the hasbro 12" that were out.
